The Wailing is only good if you get Korean culture, if you know little about the difference between Japanese and Korean culture you completely miss the signs that lead up to the ending.

IstD is the kind of film that is very long but not very complex like Wailing. It says more about how everyone is capable of being the devil itself no matter how good they seem.

Blood looked fake, torture was unimpressive and boring, the development of the main character is neglected and his plan is preposterous and fails because the killer took a shit? Also that point where the killer offers himself in, but then standing there in the middle of the road, police guy comes just in time while the rest just stand and wait, he rides his door off and hits the killer so that he falls onto his lap - end scene he beat the killer. Before that the police guy finds out where he's going, he's too late but the police are even sooner than he is. The idea is pretty cool, releasing and recapturing to fuck him up psychologically, but that's so undeveloped. It also makes no sense how he doesn't care at all that other people die all the time, and some essential scenes, for example as blandly as drinking himself to death that would explain his actions, aren't there. This is just the tip of the iceberg. The movie sucks and is incredibly disappointing.
