GotG was never about morals or providing good role models or character development like so many other Cape films try (and fail) to be. GotG was about having stupid fun. And it succeeded by my count. I'm not gonna call it some 10/10 movie but y'know, if I'm going to watch any Marvel film for fun it just might be GotG. It's bad. It's really really bad and it's hardly even trying and that's so much fun.

There are movies that are good. (Good. The Dark Knight.)
There are movies that are efficient. (Bad. Iron Man 2.)
And movies that are bad. (Good. Guardians of the Galaxy.)

It was alright but there wasn't that much going for it. Some lines were funny, some action was exciting, but overall the story was thin, it was hard to care about the characters, and most of the humor was inorganic.

Guardians of the Galaxy came out at the right time and scratched the space adventure itch that has been building up for years. Now that Star Wars is getting a movie a year for the next several years it's hard to imagine this movie having the same impact.

Because it's just not that funny, characters are not likable outside of jokes and story was horrible.
It was still mediocre fun. I'll rather go watch John Wick 2 and Thor 3 for funny action and aestetics this year.

The Star Trek 2009 reboot was a solid space adventure flick, it didn't feel anything like the tv series but I found it was the most adventurous and entertaining Trek movie. A certain death scene reenactment with reverse roles in Into The Darkness also gave me chills. Haven't seen the lastest one though.
