My favorite and funniest moment is when Dennis became a gigolo. The whole spiraling down to that path was incredibly written and portrayed. At first he didn't want to do it, then Frank got him with lies as to what he'll actually do. Then the physical and emotional abuse and finally we see a broken down Dennis, dancing to cheesy tracks for old women, completely broken. And all that was done to him by his father.

Actually, it works quite well for this show, because
A. they're conscious of that trope clearly (fat Mac)
B. Flanderizing is when the show abandons what was originally the character's role for exaggerating their flair traits, where as Always Sunny just builds on stories, while maintaining the original role value.
The usual purpose (the gang treating people horribly) seems to be center place and accented due to the Flanderization.
