Just watched this.

What did I think of it?
What did /tv/ think of it?
What did /pol/ think of it?
What did the mods think of it?
And what did Mel Gibson think of it?
>>
I thought it was okay
>>
>>79482399
>What did I think of it?
You loved it
>What did /tv/ think of it?
We love it
>What did /pol/ think of it?
They love it
>What did the mods think of it?
Can't get enough of it
>And what did Mel Gibson think of it?
He should've been blown BEFORE the jacuzzi
>>
>>79482399

that villain leader had a blond guy among his followers. he was standing a bit behind villains left side when villain ripped that page at the start of the movie. anyone know the name of the actor? couldn't find him on imdb.
>>
There should have been more quips.
>>
>>79482399
I enjoyed it. It was certainly a fuckton better than civil war, even though after a while the quips just became too much to handle.
>>
>>79482399
Yeah it was okay. Nothing too spectacular but at least the time-loop was a clever solution instead of just blowing shit up with lasers or snapping some guy's neck.
>>
You have co-dependency problems.
>>
>>79483569

But how can a cosmically powerful being not be able to break a spell created by a mere mortal?
>>
>>79482399
One too many quips, even for a Marvel movie. Almost to the degree of complete tone-deafness.
(Or maybe it was the audience at my theatre who had a guffaw over every even slightly funny thing).
>>
>>79483805
Because Infinity Stones. Strange's own power was irrelevant to the power maintaining in the loop.
>>
>>79483884

There was an infinity stone in the movie? Where and how did he get it?
>>
>>79483933
So you walked out of the theater before Wong says the Eye of Agamotto is one? There was nothing else happening in that scene, you couldn't possibly have missed it.
>>
>>79483933
Are you retarded? Gee the green gem is s giving him time powers what could it be

People called the Eye being an infinity gem before the movie came out
>>
>>79482399
This film had more magic in 5 minutes than all the Thor films combined.
>>
>>79483978

I did not walk out of the theater at any point in time during the screening since I never walked in.
>>
It was worse than BvS, but still pretty funny,
>>
>>79484074

Why are you so angry? Calm down, girl.
>>
Has a better acid trip scene than 2001.
>>
Also just watched it today for the first time.

>First half of the movie felt like fucking hospital series / Dr House with quips and "I'm always right" attitude.
>CGI sucked (with the exception of Inception-like ones).
>Fights with air-dildos and flaming yo-yos
>Female Dr Xavier
>Alien-ugly Dr Strange
>awful """fighting""" scenes
>>
Pretentious spiritualist garbage, awfully predictable plot with the infamous marvel quips in between scenes.
Had it not been for the hope of seeing the breasts of the ancient one, I would have stopped watching.
>>
>>79484224
>First half of the movie
You mean the first five minutes?
>>
>>79483568
I don't understand why you contrarian teens hate quips. I barely even notice them, I'm too busy admiring the action and visuals. Besides, they're COMIC BOOK movies.
>>
>>79484284
Anti-quipfags are triggered by people around them laughing because they think they're the ones being laughed at by everyone else.
>>
>>79484240

pretentious try-hard-to-be-edgy review
>>
>>79484295
what the fuck
>>
>>79484328
You hear someone laugh, you assume the joke is on your expense.
>>
>>79484295
Really? KEK what faggots. I bet they dislike clapping too. I don't like clapping but I don't mind others doing it, it's the same as laughing at quips. It's a crowd mentality thing, like watching a car crash accident with neighbors and commenting for an hour or more.
>>
It was alright like. 3/5 probably. Not bad but just good. Quite predictable story but shot very nicely as well as some good performances.
>>
>>79484245
All the fucking plot until the accident. And even then, lasted way too long with healing and his personal drama.
>>
>>79484433
>All the fucking plot until the accident
So like 5 minutes + the opening scene with magic and Mads.
>>
Bland as hell. Some of those visuals was really good for thouse couple minutes but everything else was just meh.
We have seen this story before a thousand time just in a different format.

I was expecting Ant man to be shit back then and it suprised me, not I expected this to be better then medicore and it was wrose.
>>
>>79483569
>the time-loop was a clever solution
I can't say I liked it that much. It didn't have enough set-up to come off as clever. I mean, the fact that he can manipulate time doesn't make it obvious that he can trap cosmic beings in a timeloop. It felt like an ass-pull.
>>
>>79484342
>commenting for an hour

do they repeat their comments? or the comments include anecdotes stories related to what they see in the accident? is that how they're able to reach an hour?
>>
>>79484524
Sounds to me like you just want to dislike it.
>>
>>79484468
>wrose

What's wrose? It sounds interesting.
>>
>>79484566

>non native english speaker misstypes a letter

My life will never be the same.
>>
>>79484544
Not really. It's an alright movie. I'm a sucker spiritual magic awakening plots and even though I've had the bargaining part spoiled to me I was exited to see it for myself because it sounded clever. It left me a bit disappointed.
>>
>>79484644
"Spiritual magic awakening" is not what you'll find in capeshit though.
>>
>>79484532
I usually stay for 30 minutes, most of my neighbors (apartments on my side and condominiums accross the street) stay for more than an hour usually. They go back home when they take away the wrecks. Anyways people just hang out and socialize. I don't know how suburban faggots watch accidents, but I assume they get scared and call their family members or some other gay shit.
>>
>>79484468
Ant man is unwatchable. Muh single father feels.
>>
>>79484468
same my man
ant man has been the only marvel movie where the lead has good enough comedic timing to make the quips work
>>
>>79484751

>complexity of characters and plot in a marvel movie

These movies are simple as shit. I usually don't even watch them, Ant man at least had nice visuals, humor, and good pacing.
>>
>>79484781

It also has something to do that we have seen Paul Rudd in comedies for years and years now.
He's that fun guy from movies, so going along the line and not taking the movie seriously keeping it as mostly comedy with light action elements works more.
>>
>>79484786
At least in dc movies they try. Even Thor and Deadpool are more relatable characters than Ant Man or Doctor Strange.
>>
>>79484841

In DC movies they try but fail horribly because they always fuck up the pacing. In a marvel movie you can't even take it seriously and if you "feel" for the characters you must be simple as fuck.

In DC movies they TRY to make you feel or explore the character but they fuck it up and you end up with the same only that it will feel tryhard.

I still like DC better, but they are honestly both shit. These are not good films, these are 201X trending horseshit superhero movies. I can't wait for them to end (in the fucking coming 6 years)
>>
>another "white guy travels to a foreign world, masters their magic better than they ever could and beats the bad guys" story
Boooooooooooooring!
>>
why does every marvel film feel the same
nothing actually really happens
there's never any real character development
no real morals or deeper themes explored
are the two first two captain america movies any good? I think they're the only ones I haven't seen
>>
5/10. Not enough quips.
>>
>>79484683
You're right but beggars can't be choosers.
>>
itt wannabes who think they can do better than actual real filmmakers

kek
>>
Great visual, disappointing story. 10/10, it's alright.
>>
>>79484841
What makes a character relatable, anon? Why is Batman more relatable than Doctor Strange or Iron Man? Are capeshit heroes even supposed to be relatable? I mean they are genius surgeons who use magic and billionaires trained by ninjas who fight villains.
>>
>>79484074
not him but there was a spell in the book about altering time. Could someone without the eye/time stone use that spell and alter time? or was it just a happy coincidence he was wearing the eye when he tried it out
>>
>>79485055
Captain America is cold war era propaganda trying to pass as modern anti government occupy wall street "movement" and pander to "socialists".
Bane did it already.

>>79485173
Batman isn't he's a fascist prick born with a silver spoon in his ass.
Thor is cool though.
>>
>>79485130
As I was watching the movie I kept wondering how different it would be if it was directed by Jodo or even Nolan. Then again Jodo isn't kind of guy who would make a cape flick...
>>
>>79485205
Could be the "spell" was just instructions on how to use the stone.
>>
>>79484295
that's the dumbest argument I've ever heard. Quips have their place, spiderman is the quipmaster, but every fucking character in mcu is now a quipper and it's just silly
>>
>>79485238
ah didn't think of that, could be that too
>>
>>79482399
Every single person and organization hated the Inception-style building bending and the quips, and had their immersion destroyed by a 50yo Englishwoman playing the part of an ancient Nepalese sorcerer.

Actually, she played herself, a modern upper class twat. Terrible casting, terrible 'acting'.
>>
>>79485292
But Tilda Swinton wasn't playing a Nepalese sorcerer, her character was a Celt.
>>
>>79485377
Oh, didn't know that. Only watched the trailers.
The movie sucks anyways.
>>
>>79485414
>Only watched the trailers
This guy.
>>
>>79482399
It's Green Lantern remake with slightly better graphics.
I liked it, but Green Lantern more, because it's original.
>>
>>79485450
>this movie about a space cop and this movie about a magician are the same
Eh?
>>
>>79485377
Wasn't she supposed to be over 1000yo?
Spending her time in a Nepalese palace?

If so, why did she seem like twit from Reading ready to go to Harrods after lunch at the Hamilton Club?
>>
>>79485130
Not everybody that consumes entertainment are seeking to make the said entertainment.
This shitty fallacy only serves to expose immature people allergic to criticism.
>>
>>79482399
It sucked
The characters are badly painted. Dr strange is so stereotypical it hurts the rest litteraly doesn't exist except for handing quips
The film had virtually no gravitas and no sense of danger
The act were messy and felt rushdown
The film was nearly 2hours yet I felt nothing happened except a series of quips
>>
>>79485473
Because she''s Tilda Swinton, not an actual Celtic sorceress who lived for a 1000 years.
>>
Is this the one with Burgerking Kryptonite innit?
>>
I really don't like the inception style cg they use, whatever its called, I really don't want it to become a meme... it loses any suspended belief when you focus on it a lil bit
>>
>>79485465
Yes.
>>
>>79485515
Explain yourself. I haven't seen Green Lantern in a very long time.
>>
>>79485465
>this guy receives a magic item from the leader of a group of guardians and has to deal with an ex-guardian turn bad that is doing shit for power disregarding the chance of summoning an all powerful evil cosmic being

>this guy receives magic knowledge from the leader of a group of guardians and has to deal with an ex-guardian turn bad that is doing shit for power disregarding the chance of summoning an all powerful evil cosmic being

"Eh"
>>
I only watched it because of Mads
>>
>>79484644
Not really my ass, beating the villain was clever and was never seen before. You are reaching so hard to disprove it's uniqueness in dealing with that end fight.
>>
>>79485542
Kaecilious was never a guardian of anything and he wasn't "disregarding" the chance of summoning Dormammu, it was his active goal.
>>
>>79485473
I know right? Why are all those nepalese monk people speaking english with american accent?
>>
>>79483569
MoS (and Superman II a little) are only action movies where hero directly defeated villain by his own hands.
>>
>>79485491
That's a good point. She plays Tilda in every movie I have seen. I am sure that even when she played the angel Gabriel, she still played Tilda.

Makes me wonder how she gets roles.
>>
>>79485292
>>79485414
>complains about a movie he hasn't seen
>>
>>79485542
>i'll incorrectly describe both movies to make them seem similar
>>
>>79485558
It's might have been a great if it was developed better. If you insist that it's so great can you explain the whole time loop thing to me? Maybe I missed something.
>>
>>79485571
Such a difference. It changes completely the plot!

>>79485645
Watch them before replying.
>>
>>79485601
Different posters.

I saw it, Tilda's acting sucked.

I literally enjoyed the animated version more.
>>
>>79485662
>these things I claim are the same are actually different but I don't care!
Okay.
>>
I learned things I wouldn't normally learn in a gift shop, their Wi-Fi password (and that they weren't savages) and that Beyonce and Adele are people that exist.

Thanks Marvel.
>>
>>79482399
purposely cast Tilda to avoid the Asian wise man stereotypes , in one of the few times they should have done the Asian wise man stereotype.

they leaned a little too heavily on the Inception cityscape but it was an ok watch.
>>
>>79485601
Why should I watch something I know sucks?
>>
why doesn't he turn back time to undestroy the other sanctum?
why not turn back time to save the ancient one?
how did his time trick with dormamamu work?
He dies and it magically brings him back to life?
Shouldn't he have to be alive to trigger the spell?
>>
>>79485450
Green Lantern is one of the shittiest capeshits I've ever seen next to only Ghost Rider.
>>
>>79485773
Why are you in here getting mad about things you don't care about?
>>
>>79485554
Literally tumblr: The Actor.
>>
>>79485820
Why should I not care about shit movies polluting my hobby?
>>
>>79485539
There's a main character who is very skillfully at his job, but he is jerk, but at the end he becomes better.
He crashes a vehicle later to accidentally discover so secret society of piece keepers that utilize imagination and will as their weapons supported by special rings. He sucks at first, but in the end he is best in this society.

It's unneeded love interest, at first their relationship isn't very good, but later it gets better, she knows that main character is a member of special society and he says goodbye to her as he is back to his adventures.

Here's a much more skillful color man, he at once doing sparring with main character and beats him, but later they are more like good friends, but in after-credit scenes he becomes villain just like in comics.

Here's villain, he actually wants to do something good, but he is evil, also he is possessed by another amorphous immortal evil being that represents itself a nasty term. Amorphous one takes a primary villain, while main character defeats him by remembering some wise words he heard previously.

MUH HANDS

MUH SPELLS

Here is two plot points that made my autism flare up:
>1. Strange reading wizard-books written in sanskrit through google translate.
Books on mystical shit are usually chock full of metaphors and alternative meanings. Understanding what the fuck they're trying to say is hard even if they're in your native language and google struggles to translate a fucking restaurant menu.

>2. His girlfriend surgeon patching him up after he got stabbed hard enough to have cardiac tamponade.
The needle and a couple of stitches aren't enough. He'd need a full on surgery to fix the pericardial sac.
>>
>>79485475
>half-truths as smokescreen

Do you really want a some NEET on /tv/ to tell you how he would change a movie shot-by-shot? Basically I watched it and thought, that scene would be much cooler if it was weirder, pacing here would be better if they allowed it to breath and have a quite contemplate moment instead of assuming that the audience has ADD and bored without seeing people flail glowing orange weapon every three minutes. A lot of stuff in the movie wasn't developed enough and it felt rushed trying to fit an origin story and a villain in two hours.

But whatever, it did alright considering it's a PG-13 Marvel flick. If you want to see the same movie by a director insane enough to try to pull it off watch the Holy Mountain. It's great.

This movie was so fucking disappointing.

>hire Mads
>make him some throw away villain with no qualities whatsoever

Seriously, Marvel needs to just learn how to make villains, they are so fucking lazy with them besides Loki. They hire these perfect famous actors and just squander them so quickly.

>these useless fucking jokes all the time coming from Strange

He is supposed to be one of the more serious characters in Marvel, he has great strength and it weighs down on him, he can't just be some jokester like Tony.

>all these "amazing" special effects that mean nothing

the bending and shit had no real purpose except other than not having the real world be destroyed, it was just useless eye candy.
