So is this guy right on all counts or is he missing something else about the shaky cam.
>>79450880
making a scene less coherent is not "grounded and visceral", it's just bad.
>>79450880
>Nolan's batman trilogy had a good fighting choreography
>>79450913
It sure as shit is cheaper and time constraining,
>>79451098
The Batman fight choreography was fucking horrible.
>>79451098
Please expand on that thought, I know that scene where the dude falls down randomly on the front of the blocked tunnel and the ridiculous catwoman kick, i wonder if there was any in TDK?
>>79451138
that was my point, you fucking mongoloid
>>79450913
They sure seem to be ramming that down everyone's throat along with the salty popcorn and sugary Coca-Cola Amatil products!
>>79451171
I was agreeing with you.
In a way, I kind of want to give Nolan a pass because hand to hand action combat is not his forte, he likes big set pieces with big, practical effects. That's what he does best. He can't do hand to hand combat, plus the fact that Bale isn't an action star and that suit was impossible to move in, that's how you end up with things like the Batman Begins fight scenes where everything was a tight close up, shrouded in shadow and with constant camera cuts.
Shaky cam is good in small doses. The problem is most movies nowadays constantly use it for every fight scene and even during scenes when people are just standing around talking. It makes the whole thing less realistic. Keep the fucking camera still.

>plus the fact that Bale isn't an action star
>What is Harsh Times
>What is Equilibrium
>What is Reign of Fire
it's not even the shaking
it's making 10 cuts in 2 seconds
shaky cam and fast cuts a shit
if you want to save shooting time change the camera angle instead of showing REM snapshots of random body parts and weapons with blurry backgrounds
>>79451284
>even during scenes when people are just standing around talking
Now that you mention it, please explain why a scene like this needed to be filmed in shaky cam?
>>79451441
Please tell me thats a fucking edit
>>79451441
Not that guy but...
Wow, thats pretty bad, but I guess it was the whole 'a day in the life' and 'up close and personal' thing in his mind which didnt come through.
>>79451441
webm is not shaky
just hand held
>>79451441
Snyder is one of the worst with shakey cam, he uses it when it is completely unneeded and it draws attention to itself, so its distracting like most of his directorial decisions.
>>79450880
this guy has some good video thanks anon for showing me this
>>79451512
But it didn't need to be.
So what is his greater point?
He wants this to be a 'new point of discussion' or something, like what's the real difference between 'Shakycam sucks dick, change it' and 'Shakycam sucks dick, but i understand why you use it, change it.'
Like, the fact that money grubbing 'executives' and producers are the ones making the decision doesn't make it any more reasonable. If anything it makes me hate shakycam more on an entirely new level.
But the whole shakycam debate has come and gone at this point, whole videos just pissing in the wind really.
>>79451531
the boat is really small
the staicase isn't broad enough
>>79451524
No probs, I stumbled onto his channel, I am surprised he doesnt have as many views as he should.
>>79451441
> Gay interracial lovers making out in the background.
B R A V O
S N Y D E R
>>79451441
if this was a marvel flick that scene would have been edited at least 3 times
>>79451611
holy shit
never noticed
fucking jewish executives
>>79451611
>MFW
kino
>>79451707
That actually would have been cool if there was about 45 cuts in 35 seconds.
>>79451707
Oh god that is just terribad
>>79451707
I actually counted it, there are about 57 to 58 cuts in that 35 seconds.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F12X8zh4aCE how good is this?
>>79451605
The guy is just sticking the camera over the rail and the pulling it up. There is more than enough room for a steadicam rig.
>>79451854
Mahfuggin 80's its just so raw and uncut like the cocaine straight from Bolivia that flooded the country again.

Right about
- Greengrass did it right, because it was thematically relevant for Bourne (he himself doesn't understand what's happening, he's just a programmed killing machine), which all the movies that copied it missed
- DTV market has some interesting counter-offers, Undisputed series shined because it just showcased the fights clearly
- Pre-viz teams and second-unit bullshit, suits ruining the show for quick easy bux, no auteurial vision allowed in big budget, PG blockbusters
But
- focuses too much on long takes at the beginning, as if it was the only alternative to retarded editing
- pulls clips from Die Hard and Predator, yet fails to realize McTiernan was the first bigtime Hollywood director to do the shakycam thing in Die Hard 3 (incredibly innovative at the time, yet completely flew under the radar for his groundbreaking filmmaking techniques), which also proves it can be done right and tastefully, it's simply a matter of a filmmaker having a vision and having the talent to back that up
- shit like John Wick and The Raid are on par with DTV stuff, made by choreographers and have refreshing merit only compared to how morose action filmmaking has become, but they stink as cinema and are plagued by juvenile mentality towards action/violence

>Bondfags will defend this
>>79451782
>>79451854
>After I'm through with you you're going to prison where you'll be raped by a pack of niggers.
He said it right in front of co-star Danny Glover who would join him again in 3 sequels, how did he get away with it?
>>79452277
cause he is a true blue aussie mate.
>>79452277
>>79452189
No we won't, Quantum of Solace was an atrocious movie.
>>79450880
Director of John Wick Chapter 2 (also a stunt coordinator) straight up said that shakycam is used to hide shitty choreography, actors who can't fight etc.
