"Charlie Work" is one of my favorites. I love how the entire episode plays out like one big scene that's constantly in motion.

Don't get me wrong, i love Frank, he is probably my 2nd favorite character, but i think that season 1 is the best. Everything is so raw, it feels more liek a slice of life from a group of sociopaths than a show about the wacky antics of a group of crazies.

The episodes were small, and focused more on bizarre social situations and the weird ticks of your friends than on the next scheme.

Overall season 1just has a much more grounded aspect that really resonates with me. The more zany stuff they do later is very funny as well, but it feels a little too fabricated to get me immersed.

I mean the gang have always been losers, but that was full-blown delusion too, which didn't fit with the show IMO

Overall, this is by far the best comedy ever.

Season 3-6 was the absolute best in terms of consistently delivering quality episodes, 7-10 was good, but didn't quite hit as high as former seasons, 11 and 12 has been hit and miss, with some highs and some "lows". But even the lower points are more fun than anything else being made, and I always get something out of an episode. The show's continued existence is justified imo.

I like how the experiment with different directing styles and the alle recurring characters. Like how they brought back that school principal Charlie and Dee ruined.

The show never got better than its pilot.

I'm not saying there aren't some good episodes or extremely funny moments later on, but as a whole The Gang Gets Racist has everybody on correct standings and plays everything by ear. Its not "Seinfeld on Crack", its just unaware people doing dumb shit.

When they started exaggerating each character's defects to cartoon levels is when the show lost me. The Jihad episode is a good example of too much;

Charlie is too retarded, Dennis and Mac are too ignorant, Dee and Frank's subplot is extremely unfunny and ties into the Charlie, Dennis and Macs's plot for unnecessary reasons. This episode paired with the pilot is when the show became about absurdly stupid people doing wacky, stupid shit instead of a group of friends act like dipshits around eachother and their relations.

I've always said this, even though everyone always says season 1 was the weakest. It was and still is my favorite, it just seemed more genuine. Now it feels more like a whacky and absurd comedy, it's lost that authentic vibe season 1 had. It would still be the same elaborate single-shot setup, but it would also be more believable.
