The eagles thing has always been a dumb criticism. Sauron had plenty of countermeasures against a bunch of fucking birds. They only got through at the end because the ring was destroyed.

I doubt there would be corruption but as servants of Manwe the eagles probably aren't too eager to be involved themselves in the affairs of mortals and Sauron. Middle Earth is supposed to be left to its own fate. It's not really their place to do so and it's a pretty big deal that the wizards were allowed to come to there at all.
