Why are Marvel soundtracks so shitty?

the movies are targeted towards kids...

Iron Man 3 main titles is nice

What is The Avengers theme

this too
>>
Well there is The Avengers theme, Captain America's March and Iron Man 3 theme but apart from that i can't remember anything.

yeah not like any kids movies have memorable themes

I never understood this video. Yeah they play a bunch of music that is mostly to set the mood, but there are titles that stand out and are remembered.

Such as this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VGJGXMUhmc

Like in Ant Man when they played it when they showed the Avengers base, everyone knew the song instantly.

Captain America Theme from Winter Soldier

My fav
>>
>>79360162
It was composed by Danny Elfman, of course it's musi-kino.
>>
>>79360162
You shouldn't count old Sony though, back then they were actually decent. Their fuck ups started around 2006.
>>
>>79360138

Your average person wouldn't know that is the theme, nor would they be able to hum it on the spot
>>
>>79360018
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4uoNAFfvKg

Marvel movies as a whole still have generic shit music though. This credits theme is the only noteworthy thing from the Doctor Strange score, the rest of it was grade-A boring.

New Superman theme, Batman suite and WW guitar riff are memorable at least
>>
>>79360368

This song is fucking great
>>
>>79360368
That theme hyped me so fucking much during the briefing
>>
It is a trend in Hollywood right now to not make memorable scores. Directors intervene and effectively tell their composers to not do their job. They simply say "I envision this music for this scene, copy this track. Don't come up with anything new, just have your orchestra cover this piece of music."

It is really annoying and one of the real and underrepresented signs that Hollywood is declining. The death of James Horner was a tragic loss that only made this problem worse.

>Every Frame a Painting started this meme
>went out to interview fucking normies if they remember music

of course normies don't remember anything. thats why they're NORMIES.
>>
>>79360607
This, I can't remember a single note of music from Man of Steel, Batman v Superman or Suicide Squad. Nolan's Batman movies had great scores but those movies aren't part of the DCEU.
>>
>>79360855
Jurassic Park, Titanic, Close Encounters, Pycho, Vertigo, Saturday Night Fever, Taxi Driver, Rocky, Terminator films, Dark Knight, Inception

got absolutely fucked, Marvel cuck.
>>
>>79360018
This bothers me. Even fucking transformers has recognizable ones.
>>
>>79360018
Raimi Spider-Man movies were the only ones with recognisable, consistent themes. But not MCU so not valid.
>>
>>79360607
Nope. DC isn't any different. Its still shitty either way.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBuIbjIvoko

Even the Thor movies had great music
>>
>>79360018

Probably because they never use the same theme twice.

Harry Potter used the same theme for 10 years, James Bond used the same for over 50, of course those themes are going to be recognizable.

OTOH, we've had two Avengers movies three years apart, with only nominally similar themes, and their theme probably changed the least. Captain America is probably the only film in the MCU that had the same person do the score for more than one film (Henry Jackman for WS and CW), and those themes don't sound remotely similar.

Marvel's had great scores. Their problem isn't talent, their problem is they don't give anyone a chance to get attached to them.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIhX1OAI5XM

This is the most memorable to me. Just because the credits were kinda cool
>>
Reminder that only the following capeshit movies have memorable scores:

>Richard Donner's Superman movies
>Tim Burton's Batman movies
>Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies
>Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy

That's it. Those are the only capeshit movie scores that have had any lasting impact on cinema/pop culture. No one remembers music from the X-Men movies, the MCU movies or the DCEU movies. These are the cold hard facts.

>inb4 "B-BUT I REMEMBER THIS BIT OF MUSIC FROM [insert shitty capeshit movie here]!"
>>
>>79360336
This is still crap but at least its actually memorable
>>
>>79360855
I really like Marvel movies, but if you genuinely believe that good music (which marvel doesn't have) isn't important in good movies then you're just an idiot.

The MoS soundtrack is a masterpiece and Zimmer and Junkie XL made some very bold decisions for BvS.
>>
Ok, maybe this isn't an orchestral score that Hans Zimmer crapped out with a xylophone and a synth keyboard, but they did partially rewrite this song to use it in the movie. It's a better fit for the character than making something new, even if it is a bit of a shortcut.

Skiiiiip
>random scene from iron man 1 which has some background music
Wtf is the point here? Not watching more of that inane nonsense.
>>
>>79361931

Its more that they're recognizable. They stand out, and are arguably good. Sure some people would say certain songs are bad, you can't please everybody, but the fact is they're songs that people can say "oh I know what movie that is for"

That can't really be said about Marvel, except maybe one or two, like the Avengers theme

I bet everyone on this board could recognize the shire theme in LOTR by the second note. That flute is like permanently programmed into everyone's brains to associate with Gandalf's voiceover and Sean Austin shouting "Frodo!"
Comes in at 2:40.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjAAC13al9s

It's a fair point that recognizing 3 notes of a theme doesn't make the score good, but the point is that, if you remember it, the music probably did its job. It lodged itself in your brain when you were feeling a particular emotion, and now when you think of that music you feel that emotion. board-fags will argue but that's generally the point.
>>
>>79360018
Wrong the avengers theme is very recognizeable. That said however marvel refuses to have consistent themes for their characters and i really dont get it. So i agree with your thread. WTF is Fiege doing.
>>

Our overlord youtuber what's-his-face told us how to find out if a song is recognizable though(pedestrians should be able to hum it)
>>
>>79362549

This thread is about recognizable music. Somebody posted that video in response. This thread isn't about Every Frame a Painting, so stop getting your thong all twisted up. Personally I don't dislike the Marvel music at all, some of it is pretty great, but its just background filler, and could be swapped out and people would hardly even notice.
>>
>>79361931
>Next you're telling me that lines which are quoted be retards mean the dialogue is good otherwise it's terrible
Not everything has to be black or white my little cuck. The problem with marvel is that it's always grey
>>
>>79362549
I think just maybe he's using those street interviews as what's called an "example" to make a point. The intention of his little youtube video isn't that, for a film score to be good, you should be able to instantly hum the opening bars of a theme on the spot. No one here is saying that's a good metric by itself.
But it does kind of illustrate the point that other movies (even much smaller, more obscure ones) conjure up musical themes without any prompting. This tells you that they did a better job of being memorable or noticeable, which either A) speaks to their quality or B) speaks to their pop culture relevance.

There are plenty of films on the Oscar list for best score from the past two decades that I could never conjure up a single bar of. Does this make them bad scores? No, that's a dumb argument. But the impact of the film on current cinema or on popular culture a decade on is likely less because of it.

But Star Wars wasn't owned by Disney until recently and now suddenly the movies aren't as memorable.
>>
>>79360368
that tune, I can hear the voice speaking over it

>human, you've changed nothing, your species has the attention of those infinitely your greater, that which you know as reapers are your salvation through destruction

mass effect 2 was an absolute 10/10, I'd hope for a mass effect tv or film series but they'd fuck it up probably.

binged the expanse recently and notice a few background themes sounded like they'd been lifted straight from mass effect, none like that it's a bit loud and bombastic, but the more sedate tunes from the first game.
>>
>>79362362
You don't know the theme of Psycho? Are you shitting me?

I don't like comic book films at all. The only ones I enjoyed were Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Marvel films are absolute trash and the soundtracks are terrible.
