I would argue RLM's Best of the Worst is the same though I would also argue that show is aided by the banter of the cast and real world film experience of those on the panel to produce informed critique of the movies. Doug on the other hand is nothing without these "so bad they're good" movies and his videos without that guise only exposes him as cringingly unfunny and uneducated on topics surrounding film.

I know I'm preaching to a choir but I thought I'd articular fully why exactly it appears as though he has progressive become less funny over time, because he was never funny to begin with. Good "old Doug" content was just showing silly movies to a near plagiarism extent and making easy jokes at low hanging fruit to people too emotionally stunted to watch a bad movie by themselves and enjoy it (which I think most of us were when we were younger if we're honest)

Reviews are very hit and miss. I like it best when the movies are properly bad and really deserve being made fun of. When he just does an average or even good movie and nitpicks it to death, and especially when he dislikes something because of something he misunderstood, it just gets cringe worthy. The new movie reviews where they re-enact the movie are the absolute worst.

What I enjoyed most was probably his Avatar vlogs. Those were kinda comfy until he started bringing his brother along.

How would he review something like the Goldbergs?

At like 2009/10-ish, TGWTG.com was a great site. Spoony hadn't gone bananas yet, JewWario was still around and Doug made actual reviews with no shitty skits with the two idiots in it. And Kickassia and Specials like that were around and were fun. I wouldn't have paid money to see them, but they were enjoyable enough. Oh and Nostalgia Chick made fun videos too. Also Cinema Snob was on point most of the time.

Then Spoony left, JewWario died, they tried their videogames site and while it was fun at first, it flopped pretty hard pretty quickly. Nostalgia Critic got "killed", he made utter shite, he brought back Nostalgia Critic. BUT he added all the shite he had in the meantime like the two rather unfunny "actors". For me the final nail in the coffin for the whole Channel Awesome thing was the namechange. The new site has none of the "amateur-but-heartfelt" charme of the old one and it looks just like any other, just without all or most of the talent that made the old site fun.

I'm amazed in an age of RLM that they are still around. RLM does basically the same thing, just better in every way.

The last review I saw was Jurassic World. That was when he started doing the entire review as nothing but sketches. I get that he did it for legal reasons, but I was waiting the entire fucking time to laugh even once and I never did. It made me disappointed in my younger self because I was wondering if I was wrong for liking him at one point, and I haven't gone back to his old NC reviews since. But even if that's the case, most of these youtubers are in a position to actually use their influence to make things they want.
