We've seen this story before, it's the same kind of story Dances With Wolves/Pocahontas/Avatar told. And there's nothing wrong with that basic familiarity as long as there's some originality and new things too.

That being said, it's been about 20 years since I watched it. I remember my stepdad liking it a lot and even looking back on it fondly as I got older.

Don't watch The Nostalgia Critic's review of it. It's kino, just like Cat in the Hat.
