I unironically like these movies.
>>
So the 3 of them have the most based pirate ships in existence, and suddenly there's bigger baddies than them?

I mean I guess they need some kind of story, but I think this shit has run its course. Will probably still see it, if only for Geoffrey Rush

One of the franchise Disney keeps milking yet maintains (relatively) high quality. Now if only they could do the same for TRON...OH WAIT, they ditched in favor of SJWars.

I'll never forgive them for that.

I see they're bringing Will back for this one, which makes sense since it's about the dead returning. As long as Elizabeth ain't in it to ruin everything.

I have to, it's the closest I'll get to Monkey Island: The Movie.

these movies are severely underrated (even normies parrot the "only the first movie is good meme)

second movie is literally only slightly worse than the first, third movie is noticeably worse than the second but still good, and the fourth movie is as good as if not better than the third

jack's gotten worse over the course of the series but it's still fun to see him and some of the other side characters are great as well

another thing that i noticed last time i rewatched them is that the comedic timing is really on point

the action scenes are very well done too, i'm seriously not even a huge pirate fag or anything and these are still my favorite movies

Fuck... this is either a very well made trailer or potentially the first good POTC sequel after Dead Man's Chest. Javier looks badass af and the fucking flying dutchman is back.

Who hyped for a four way battle between the Black Pearl. Queen Anne's Revenge, Flying Dutchman and Salazar's Spooky Ship?
>>
>>79156497
I would go

1 = 2 > 4 >>> 3

Mostly because I love Davy Jones, he's an awesome villain. The forth one is too messy, they literally go all around the world, the whole plot with Tia Dalma being a godess all of a sudden, and teasing a huge sea battle but then they just go NOPE and it's a 1v1 anyway.

The fourth one turned down a lot of the superfluous stuff and felt abit like the first one, got alot good bantz between Jack and Barbossa and also Cruz preggo tits
>>
>>79156566
Salazar's ship is called the Silent Mary. I got that from the POTC wiki.

Also, i just find out this film cost about $320 million, and the fourth one is $378 million, literally the most expensive movie ever. I guess most of it goes to Johnny Depp (and probably the CGI too).

POTC4 is currently the most expensive film ever followed by POTC5 and then POTC3.

I don't even understand where all the money went on 4. it had the least CGI out of all the film's.
>>
>>79156704
>>79156678

Yeah, except that Jones and his fish-peoples are in the second and third movie. The second is $225 million, the third is $300 million. The only major CGI scenes in the fourth is the mermaids and Blackbeard putting down the mutiny (which mixed with practical effects). What else could cost the movie that much?
>>
>>79156678
More like $410.6 million

Sharks which hunt large prey usually don't just kill their prey in one hit, they want to avoid injury and not over-using their energy to kill something.

Or your dumbasses could read the wiki

>Pirate Captain Hector Barbossa became Pirate Lord of the Caspian Sea, and was wanted dead or alive by the East India Trading Company for piracy in the area. His predecessor was Borya Palachnik

>Boris Palachnik, sometimes called Borya, was a Russian Pirate Lord of the Caspian Sea during the late 1720s However, his greed was so big that he and his men started slaughtering captured crews of merchant ships so they could keep their vessels and sell them, openly violating the Pirate Code. Thus organizing a fleet of rogue pirates, Borya became the scourge of the Seven Seas, until his luck run out when he knowingly targeted and sank the Cobra, a pirate ship of Hector Barbossa. A few months later, at Shipwreck Cove, Barbossa and the young pirate Jack Sparrow exposed Borya's actions to the Brethren Court, and he and his men were all sentenced to hang.
>A day before the execution, Barbossa visited Borya in a prison, where Borya apologized for the destruction of Barbossa's ship. Borya even gave him his most precious token, his Piece of eight, the sign of pirate lordship, thus making Barbossa the next Pirate Lord of the Caspian Sea, though Barbossa didn't know the meaning of the Piece of Eight at that time. Borya even offered to give the Koldunya to Barbossa as a payment for the loss of the Cobra.
>>
>>79158488
Its still odd though, why choose the Caspian? I mean their purpose I imagine originally was to take over the Pirate world. Which they took over the Caribbean from Jack and then the Caspian from whoever. I imagine that might have been the time the curse was too much and they started looking for the gold?

Its just always an odd thing. Especially now that there are famous pirates like Blackbeard, Salazar, etc. running around but they aren't Pirate Lords.

Or how Jack's father is Pirate Lord of the Madagascar during the Third Court, but that isn't a place for Fourth Court.

I really wish they had fleshed stuff like that out more properly or an entire movie was just focused on that stuff, because it was interesting in the 3rd movie, its just everything else was sort of lame.
>>

So from the trailer, I think I know what is going on.

Salazar is almost certainly a Spanish captain/admiral of the Treasure Fleet that sunk because of the hurricane back in 1715. This explains the blinged out skull, and why the ship is torn apart. Jack probably is blamed for them dying because he probably took them into the direction of the hurricane on accident or some shit.

The Queen Anne is going to be destroyed, this sets the tone that Salazar isn't just some guy who can destroy British ships. He can also take out "special" ships too, and it serves as a skill check by having him take out Barbossa, whom a lot of fans like.

Then Salazar starts to hunt down Sparrow, and Jack Runs away because that's what Jack does. However once he is able to evade the Spooky Skeleton Ship, the ocean splits open in front of him and out pops the Flying Dutchman.

The Dutchman shows up because Salazar is supposed to be dead, but has escaped the locker like Jack did, except using Spoopy Caribbean magic. Will won't directly help Jack by just going and taking out the Dutchman for him, but rather he wants to use Jack as bait.

Jack won't go for it and sails away. Then who knows.

Either Barbosa dies, or Salazar leaves Barbosa alive on a dingey for someone to pick up after sinking the Queen Anne to serve a warning and "find Jack Sparrow" or some stupid shit.

This might be the outcome because clearly see Barbosa walking down a street (it's him, he has the coat, hat, and limp) towards the camera in the trailer, but it is just as likely that is an earlier scene.

Offical synopsis.

>"Down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea – notably Jack.

>Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry Turner (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy and the son of Jack's old friend Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), who now leads the cursed crew of the Flying Dutchman. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifull small and shabby ship, Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill-fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has never faced."

>>
>>79159041

They are really pushing plausibility with that shit.

Why does Will's son need to be in the movie? Besides, could you imagine him fucking Keira Knightly with his barnacle dick? I am so confused as to why he even has barnacles on his face. The 3rd movie went and showed that the state of the Dutchman and the crew was a direct reflection of the captain, and Will was nothing like that. Hence why they all turned back to looking normal at the end.
>>
>>79159019
So he drank a single drop from the fountain of youth or got a lease on life through some other means.
>>

I think the barnacles imply that Will has been negligent. Maybe because the villains managed to escape death.

I really want a sea-shanty version of Ain't No Grave, now. I can totally picture a band of men walking around the capstan singing about there being no grave to hold them down(because they'll be buried at sea). And the trumpet/rise right out of the ground being remade slightly into also being about the bell signalling that you have to come up on deck for your shift. The whole thing gets this whole literal dimension to it.
>>
That effect that makes Salazar and his crew seem like they are constantly underwater is actually neato.
I'm surprised that they were willing to make Turner look a bit more ugly as he gets that barnacle shit on his face like the old crew did.

>After the last mention of her, Duc de Dantzig disappeared without a trace. She might have been cruising in the Atlantic or in the Caribbean at the time, and either been destroyed in a night encounter against a British frigate, or in a tropical cyclone.[1]

Napoléon Gallois later relayed the legend that an unspecified French frigate had encountered the wreck of Duc de Dantzig drifting at sea, covered with dried blood and the putrefying corpses of her crew, many crucified to the masts or the deck. There were no signs that she had been in a recent battle: no new shot holes, and her sails and rigging were intact. Some blood-stained papers found in the captain's cabin identified her captain as François Aregnaudeau. The crew of the frigate set the brig ablaze.

>The story has appeared in various magazines and books on Forteana, beginning with a 1953 article in Fate Magazine. Authors such as Jessup speculate that the crew might have been attacked by UFOs[14] or paranormal forces prior to their deaths.
