Why did they turn the series into shitty action films? The first three movies were fucking great, and then they just all turned to shit.

>>
>>79131679
You have to keep upping the stakes as if that makes a movie more interesting, like someone will go see 5, and it's a heist, but 6 is back to small scale issues with racing gangs, and feel cheated for some reason
also, don't it all CGI or something? No actual cars moving, just in still shots?
>>
>>79131922
Should have stopped at 7 tee bee aych, it was a pretty good ending and a great send off for Paul's character, who's practically the protag of the series.

>>79131977
Wow you're actually so fucking wrong that it's embarrassing.

1 > Tokyo > 2 > 5 > 7 > 6 > 4

>>79131993
It's going to be shit I bet, nothing that is originally animated will ever adapt well into live-action, especially if it's made by Hollywood.

Can anyone explain to me how toyko drift isn't one of the worst big budget Hollywood films ever made? Terrible acting, unlikeable characters, horrendous editing and music and direction, shit script, boring, doesn't have anything to do with the rest of the franchise, etc.

True, 1 and Tokyo can be interchangeable. Might just be the nostalgia for me that gives 1 the top spot.

It's so cheesy, over the top, and extremely stereotypical of Japan that it's actually really good.

And you cannot deny that those meet up drift races aren't god-tier.

1 and 2 were great undercover cop street racing movies. Tokyo was one of the worst movies I've ever seen, the new protagonist is literally a retard with no redeeming qualities who somehow had never heard of drifting. It's so easy to hate him that they never brought him back. I can only assume this movies popularity is down to brain dead nip lovers. I remember basically nothing about 4 besides it being very boring. 5 and 6 I get mixed up, the bit with the action scene on the plane on the never ending run way I'd terrible and all the scenes in London are generally terrible. The bit in the favela is pretty good with the dragging the big metal box down the street. The bit with the tank was retarded but pretty cool. The CGI was bad. That's all I remember about these two movies the rest I assume was shit. Number 7 had a really good opening, the bit where the rock breaks off his cast is awesome and everything is dubia was fucking cool, as was air dropping the cars. Good action scenes.

I've always been confused about this scene. I always assumed they weren't meant to be talking face to face, but side-by-side.

The DOT regulations were a big part
Another big part was Japan had a weird export ban on the luxury models with the big engines. And there was never an actual USA export model.

So you had to jump through all these hoops to get one, and then if you tried to register it the USA cracked down on you.
Created a lucrative market for em.

B-b-but. Shut the fuck up. Because it was the year 2000 so no shit they need to throw in a lot of racing. But the movie was always about an undercover cop trying to find who's robbing trucks.

The movies are all about using expensive fast cars to rob people.

>>
>>79133738
CAFE restrictions and crumple zone restrictions.
Its all about aerodynamics to keep MPGs high, and having large crumple zones to meet safety regulations.

You cant even make a regular looking pickup truck anymore.
They have pretty much legislated regular cab pickup trucks out of existence.
They have to have large greyhound bus looking aesthetics for practical reason.

They even explicitly banned flip up headlights
You havent been able to legally build a car with flip up headlights since around 2005.

Do you see all of these new, low end cars touting their automatic braking?
Like Kias and shit? Stupid cars that never would have that stuff?

They are getting ready because people believe that assisted braking is going to be a legal requirement within the next 10 years. So people are implementing it now
