the pirating problem was never an issue of cost but distribution. When digital streaming first came out side by side with NBN rollout piracy plummeted till the liberals fucked the NBN now its next to impossible to stream during peak hours anymore.

This was mirrored by the release of digital distribution for video games back when steam first became a thing. Vidya piracy in Australia was rampant due to late availability and the huge markup. When we were buying at american prices on steam piracy dropped like a stone, now that the publishers fucked us by bumping it up to the SAME cost as physical copies piracy is on the rise again.
