The movie is better directed than all the others, it had a great aesthetic and the CGI still doesn't look completely awful. The story is the first of the series to really touch on mature themes, but doesn't go over the edge into the melodramatic, high-stakes storylines of the later films. It's both an entertaining romp and a meaningful, character-driven story at the same time.

I haven't read the book since it came out, nor have I felt the need to, so I'd say I probably prefer the film.

Another dull flick from the dullest franchise in the history of movie franchises. If you like the books' mystery solving sutff you should read Rowling's Robert Galbraith stuff. I'm only on the first book and it's pretty much the same kind of style, but there's a lot of filler and repetition of information that was already known.

Its the visual style combined with John Williams unique score. Cuaron gave it a really unique look and feel compared to the rest of the movies.

The other movies look generic af especially all the ones directed by Yates. There dark and depressing. I also think that Goblet of fire is highly underrated. Mike Newell is probably the most underappreciated director of the franchise. Most people don't even know his name.
