Doesn't necessarily sound like that to me desu. Sounds like it could be really touching if Peter maintained a positive attitude throughout and just did his best to the end.

I'll give it a go.

I'd open with Spider-Man fighting the Shocker, who is a joke villain and Spider-Man is just sort of toying with him before subduing him.

After giving Shocker over to the police and returning home, Peter finds a call on his answering machine: Aunt May passed away at the hospital while Peter was out as Spider-Man.

Peter attends the funeral for Aunt May and runs into Mary Jane there. The two talk and we learn that they were engaged, but Peter got cold feet and called things off. Peter says he just couldn't juggle being a husband, a father, and a Spider-Man, and felt at that time like he had to be Spider-Man. But now, he regrets his decision, he regrets choosing Spider-Man. He also admits that he's getting old, he's not at his peak, and the city hasn't had a serious threat since Venom (the police can handle jokers like the Shocker, he says). So he decides he's going to retire, and MJ says that's probably for the best and she's always going to be there for him.

But that night, as he's packing up his Spider-Man stuff, he overhears on the police scanners that there's a break-in at an old, abandoned Oscorp warehouse. At first, he tries to ignore it, but then we cut to him showing up at the place as Spider-Man. There, he comes face to face with the Green Goblin.

At first, Spider-Man doesn't believe he's the real Green Goblin, calling him a faker, but then when Green Goblin calls him Peter in the same voice as the old Green Goblin (there's a flashback to a scene in the first movie to compare the two), Spider-Man is caught off-guard and Green Goblin uses the distraction to get away. Spider-Man gives him chase but can't keep up and eventually loses him.

Realizing Mary Jane may be in danger since this Green Goblin knows his identity, Peter calls her up to warn her. Mary Jane get pissed at Peter for not retiring like he said he would but stops yelling at him when he tells her Green Goblin is back. Mary Jane packs up her things to go into hiding.

OP of >>79127503 here, that's kind of what I was going for. The story would basically be life hitting Peter harder and harder but he keeps getting up. Something really vacant in the Garfield movies and seemingly vacant in Homecoming was the tenacious optimism of Peter. That was always his most touching characteristic, imo.
>>
>>79128523
Peter gets off the phone with Mary Jane and decides to keep looking for the Green Goblin. He's out all night but the trail has run cold and he has no leads. He ends up at Norman and Harry's graves, before going home at dawn. However, just as he's about to arrive at his apartment, it bursts in an explosion and the Green Goblin attacks Spider-Man.

In this fight, we see that the years have taken their toll on Spider-Man and that, as he said, he's no longer at the top of his game. Green Goblin even comments on this. Green Goblin beats Spider-Man in an intense fight. He then ties Spider-Man up with his own webbing and flies him to Times Square, where he humiliates him by unmasking him to the entire world and leaving him tied up. JJ faints.

Spider-Man manages to break free and escape from the crowd gathered around him. He decides to investigate Oscorp, which fell apart and was sold off to various companies shortly after Harry's death. While snooping around at old Oscorp laboratories, Spider-Man discovers there were various attempts to recreate the goblin formula, all failures. Facing project termination, Miles Warren, the head researcher, used a version of the formula derived from Norman's blood on himself. The formula worked, but also drove Warren made, making him think he was Norman Osborn (and even look and sound more like him). Killing his fellow scientists, Warren fled.

Realizing where Warren went next after the experiment, Spider-Man visits the home of Bernard Houseman, the Osborn's trusted butler. He finds Bernard beaten and scared, driven nearly insane. He tells Spider-Man that he's back, that Norman is back, and that he told Norman everything. He tells Spider-Man that Norman isn't well, and he needs to be stopped before he can accomplish his plan, and Spider-Man asks what that plan is.

>>79128552
The movie then goes to Mary Jane Watson, who is on an airplane headed out of the city and country. The airplane is about to take off when it is attacked by the Green Goblin, who abducts Mary Jane.

The Green Goblin takes her back to the old Osborn mansion, which has been long abandoned and is falling apart and decrepit. There, it's revealed he's kidnapped quite a few people, including JJ. He tells his captives there's just one more person missing, and that's when Spider-Man shows up.

With Spider-Man present, the Green Goblin reveals his plan: the people he's captured are all people who wronged him. Some are the business men and lawyers who cut up and sold Oscorp in pieces, destroying his legacy. Others are his ex-wives, who pretended to love him so they could bleed him dry. There's JJ, who used to drag his name through the mud in his paper, and did so even after his death. Then there's MJ, who left Harry for the enemy and drove Harry to madness.

Spider-Man once again fights Green Goblin, with little choice to do otherwise. The fight starts bleak, but Spider-Man gets the upper-hand when he calls him Miles Warren, causing the Green Goblin to briefly revert from his Norman Osborn persona to his Miles persona. Miles tells Peter to help him before shifting back. Spider-Man starts losing again but manages to free Green Goblin's hostages. Mary Jane hesitates to run but JJ grabs her and tells her that she has to let Peter be the hero that he is.

With the hostages clear of the mansion, the fight continues, with Spider-Man losing until Green Goblin catches himself in the mirror. Once again, the Warren persona breaks free, and urges Spider-Man to finish things off, as he can't keep fighting off the goblin. Spider-Man activates the pumpkin bombs on the Green Goblin's belt and, just as the Goblin persona re-emerges, the mansion is caught in a huge explosion, seemingly killing them both.

The movie shifts to years later, where it's revealed that Mary Jane (who moved to another country) has been giving an interview to a reporter from the Daily Bugle on Spider-Man, who is commemorating him as a hero on the anniversary of his first public appearance. The reporter thanks "Ms. Watson" to which MJ replies that she's no longer Mary Jane Watson but rather Mary Jane Reilly, wife of Ben Reilly, a man who bares a striking resemblance to Peter Parker (since it's just him but with blond hair). Ben Reilly works computer repair and the two of them have a young daughter, May. The movie ends with a tease that May has the same powers as her dad, Spider-Man.

And that's that. It's kind of bare-bones and the ending is pretty much a rip-off of Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow. I'd probably add a bit more to how JJ reacts to Spider-Man's reveal (by running Peter's name through the mud and calling him every name in the paper, maybe have Robertson quit over that, making him rethink it). And by Shocker being a joke, I mean like a guy in a Halloween costume with tasers. And as far as it being a rip, I don't even care because they'll never do anything good with a live-action Superman like that so may as well do it in a Spider-Man movie.

Why?

The first one was mediocre, the second one was alright, and the third one was garbage. What's the point in doing a fourth one, especially when the third one closed the overarching story of the three films?

There's nothing really left to resolve and there's nothing really more to say, and they weren't that great, so why dig them up for another one?

Spider-Man 2 is the greatest thing to come out of capeshit. It's an actually great movie on it's own merits since it predates the age of when every superhero movie has to be connected. Raimi was in his prime and he knocked it right out of the park.

because theres very few people like him in any form of mainstream comics.
Sure, you have 'psychos' like the joker and green goblin and shit, but those people more align with 'crazy'. Their PG 13 at their best

Carnage is like the tarantino style of comics. When hes there, hundreds /will/ die, you will see tons of gore and mayhem on a scale most people dont show and is just all around bonkers. While almost everyone elses violence is means to an end (ie, norman became the green goblin to prove them wrong, joker kills people as part of his big joke/plan), to Kassidy/carnage, the violence IS the end. Its his entire goal. He doesnt give a rats ass who catches him, so long as he had a good bloodbath.

You dont see to many people go that far

Carnage is garbage, Carnageman is the greatest hero that ever lived

Raimi-horror esque story about Chameleon and Mysterio teaming up to fuck with Spiderman's psyche out of pure spite a la the Scarecrow sequences in the Arkham games.

A modern adaption of "I Really, Really Hate Clones" from the 1990's TV show, with an aged Ramiverse spiderman, Sonyverse Spiderman, Homecoming Spiderman and Jaden Smith as Miles Spiderman all fighting Spider-Carnage.

All of them die by the start of the second third except ramiverse spiderman and it becomes an evil dead-esque horror

I like that idea except for the spoiler part.

I'd throw in Japanese Spider-Man, and maybe CBS Spider-Man.

he's the embodiment of 90's edge
>>
>>79129117
Thank you.

Another idea I was thinking about was one where the movie, again, begins with Spider-Man catching the Shocker who, again, is a joke. Then he gets a call and rushes to a hospital where he finds he's too late: he missed the birth of his daughter. This makes him realize he can't be Spider-Man and a dad, and so he retires.

Movie jumps 15 years. Peter is 45ish and hasn't donned his suit since retiring. People have all but forgotten Spider-Man and the Parkers live a normal life, although Mary Jane still worries from time to time that May might have inherited her dad's spidey powers. Turns out, her mom's suspicions are true, and May has developed her dad's powers and has been keeping them a secret from her parents. She's also been moonlighting as a superhero with her own homemade spidey suit (which isn't that great).

The city holds a ceremony honoring the anniversary of the first sighting of Spider-Man, who they believe died as a hero protecting the city, although there are rumors he's still around and people swear they've seen him or been saved by him. JJ is there spouting his Spider-Man hate. They unveil a statue of Spider-Man, which is promptly destroyed by an explosion from a pumpkin bomb. The Green Goblin is back. He scoops up JJ and terrorizes him before throwing him into his office through the window. JJ asks him what he wants and he says "Spider-Man."

So the Daily Bugle publishes that the Green Goblin plans to continue terrorizing New York until Spider-Man shows his coward face (or masked face). Peter sees this and is conflicted about what to do until MJ tells him he needs to come out of retirement.

So Parker suits up and fights Green Goblin and Spider-Man, but he's old and rusty and out of practice, and Green Goblin manages to beat him up. May watches her mom watching this on TV, and she realizes Spider-Man is her dad and decides to go off and save him.
>>
>>79131159
May goes off as Spider-Girl and saves her dad just as things are looking bleak for him, prompting Green Goblin to escape, and Spider-Man and Spider-Girl run off. People are wondering who this new Spider-person is and JJ wishes Parker still worked for him because he's dying for a picture of this new Spider-person (who he and others are calling Spider-Boy). JJ drags their names through the mud saying Green Goblin and the Spiders are working together again and it's all a scam.

So Spider-Man and Spider-Girl go home and they have a family talk. Peter and MJ are mad that May kept her secret from them but then she says "yeah but you kept your secret from me, too" and they all realize they should have been more open about this. May asks about the Goblin and Peter and MJ tell her the whole story about the Osborns. Peter says he'll investigate and deal with it, but first he's going to take a break and heal up. He tells May he doesn't want her to don her suit again and she says she won't.

This isn't the whole truth because, while she doesn't her suit again, she does steal her dad's and goes out as Spider-Girl. After doing some sleuthing into the Osborns, she finds Bernard Houseman, who is like 90 and near death. Bernard tells her that not all the Osborns are dead, and that Harry had an illegitimate child who was born just after his death. Bernard never met the kid, but he knows the kid tried to claim the inheritance only to find it was all gone, as Oscorp fell apart shortly after Harry died, and that all that's left of the Osborns is their mansion, which nobody has lived in since the end of their line.

Meanwhile, MJ realizes May has run off with Peter's suit and tells Peter. Peter says he'll go after her with a spare suit of his. MJ asks if he ever really retired and Peter responds that maybe a part of him knew he never really could. The two kiss and then Spider-Man goes off after his daughter.
>>
>>79131159
>>79131190
Spider-Girl goes to the old Osborn mansion, where she confronts the Green Goblin. She tells the Green Goblin that she knows what it's like to grow up with secrets, that she knows what it's like to grow up with a power you can't explain, and that she knows what it's like to be in the shadow of a legacy, but ultimately, we get to choose who we are. The Green Goblin removes the mask, revealing she's a woman, and she says she never got to choose. Spider-Girl lets down her guard and goes to comfort the crying Green Goblin, and then the Green Goblin smiles all crazy as it's revealed she's activated her glider and it comes swooping in to attack Spider-Girl, which she narrowly dodges.

The two fight and it looks like Green Goblin will win but then Spider-Man saves Spider-Girl from a pumpkin bomb. She thanks her dad but then Green Goblin knocks her dad out. The two go back to fighting and Spider-Girl gains the upperhand. In a scene similar to the first film, Spider-Girl offers mercy, Green Goblin tries to kill her, but winds up killing herself.

Spider-Girl and Spider-Man reconcile, and there's a whole passing-of-the-torch moment. The movie ends at the Daily Bugle, where JJ is saying he wants pictures of that damned Spider-Boy, to which Spider-Girl replies that she isn't a Spider-Boy: she's Spider-Girl.

The end credit scene is Spider-Girl arriving to stop a bank robbery, which is revealed to be the work of the Son of the Shocker (who is just as ridiculous as his dad).
