It's underrated by critics. Ridiculously underrated. I'm not saying it's a particularly great or even good movie, but watch it, then read the reviews. Fucking SJWs.

Why is there gravity? Is the ship under thrust or is it a giant rotating structure?

Going forward, I will not watch sci-fi unless they've nailed the gravity.

After he figures out that the autodoc could be used for hibernation, why doesn't he spend some time to figure out how to make the capsule fit two people? Also didn't he say there are replacement parts for everything, so there might be a replacement autodoc in storage somewhere? Are we supposed to believe he just gave up on it immediately and wouldn't have been able to eventually figure something out over the next 40-50 years?
>>
>>79101710

according to the movie logic, the entire ship is unable to fail.

yet they still have backup parts for everything BUT the life pods.

dude the whole movie is for retarded people.

they have a rotating ship for gravity, i was happy about that in the beginning, yet the gravity goes away instantly when the computer stops... if its rotating it would have to come to a complet halt instantly for gravity to go away.

its all retarded dude. not to mention they looked directly at a sun through the window, and even if it was super polarized or something it would be white not yellow.

ugh, dont be smart and watch movie or youll constantly be battling your own mind.

Mediocre. Also unrealistic.

I wasn't talking about the hibernation pods, I was talking about the pod they used for medical treatment that they figured out could be used for hibernation
>>
>>79102051

yes the pod they figured out could be used for hibernation no doubt could be retrofitted somehow within a couple years. they have spare computer parts everywhere that could be used as well.
>>
>>79102260
Maybe they figured out how deep in debt they were from eating at the nice restaurants all the time and decided it would be better to die before they got to the new planet. Thanks, capitalism.

its a small group of evil people that are to blame.

No. It's just a horrible movie with a wasted premise.
>>
>>79096986
Its pussy, what else is it there for?
>>
>>79096929
Absolutely not. I went into this movie expecting a mediocre, but entertaining movie but it was just dull. Really boring. There's no fun action, the dialogue is so generic it barely registers, the story is uneventful, the CGI is really meh for the most part. I'll spoiler some of my complaints, but it's barely worth it

So the movie starts off with the ship approaching an asteroid belt. It comes into contact with a rather large one, and parts of the ship are hit.
Then throughout the movie, they keep showing these ominous malfunctions; no one can figure out why the ship is malfunctioning, it's a giant mystery! They can't even possibly check the hundreds of thousands of parts, the ship's ginormous! How will they solve this?!
There is no mystery. Some parts of an asteroid just hit the GIANT FUCKING REACTOR CORE at the center of the ship. They tease and tease on about what could be the cause of the system failures and it's literally just a giant, obvious fucking hole in the central reactor of the whole fucking ship. That's literally the first thing they should've checked."
> "The ship's shutting down! What should we do?"
> "Check the huge, unmissable glowing, pulsating core that's supplying the energy to the entire ship?"

And the rest is just
> "Fuck that, let's have a montage of us doing wacky things around the ship set to a cheap remixed pop song from several years ago!"

It's just so safe, bland and uninspired. The 'twist' totally should've been that Chris Pratt's character had been awake for much longer and had been waking up multiple women before J-Law, and ended up killing each one or something when they found out. Make a nice thriller about Pratt being some lonely, cooky homicidal guy driven mad by years of loneliness.

>they couldnt access the reactor area until magic black man shows up with his wristband and tells tham what to do.

I know, but even after that's happened, they still don't check the reactor core. They're running around all over ship gathering "data" from all the "systems". Everyone's all confused as to why this is happening when the problem couldn't have been more obvious. For that matter, why did the ship have trouble displaying what the problem was? A giant infero that's been going on for two years seems like a pretty obvious fucking flaw.

I also liked how Fishburne just casually asked the computer to "extrapolate the current failures in a timeline" or whatever and the ship just responds with

> "Critical operative failure in [X] hours"

or whatever. I'm glad that the ship only told you that when you asked about it, not like it would've been nice if it warned you when it fucking knew it was going to blow the fuck up. Fishburne's character also seemed really off. He appears in the movie, no one really acts surprised, he only serves to open up crew-only systems and then just goes away again.

>>79103642
Don't forget that the equipment room in front of the airlock is mostly empty space that has exactly two really convenient suit 'stations'. For a ship of thousands.
>>
Such a shitty cliche boring piece of trash movie. Literally You've Got Mail in space for 75% of the movie then some quick bullshit emergency space repair (super dangerous) that was a direct rip off from that movie where the black dude was the rescue expert what with the tethers and shit. Also Gravity.

>Oh no the fusion core is gonna blow! I'll risk my life to save you and the ship by going on a super dangerous spacewalk. I love you Hunger Games.

Fuck this movie I want my time back.
>>
100% horrible
>>
>>79103778
Megatons of metal for vast, comfy spaces, shipped interstellar, yet can't budget a few hundred pounds for a few extra autodocs or re-freeze equipment? Hell, they plan on turning around after a year and going back to Earth, and are crossing their fingers the re-freeze equipment presumably brought on a previous voyage is still there and functioning?
>>
>>79101710
Even in worst case scenario where they couldn't find or make another ibernation capsule they could've shared the time left and spent half each with one taking the first turn and waking up the other halfway through, if they couldn't stand that much time alone they could do it in smaller intervals
>>
>>79103880
Don't get me started man, you could tear this movie apart at every fucking seam if you wanted to. I just want to move on
>>
>>79103880
Also there's no way for staff to wake up throughout the journey to check on the ship and that they're still on course, then go back into hibernation. This company wouldn't risk letting one of their ships go off course just to save a little space by not storing equipment to induce hibernation on-board.

I would proceed, starting with the ugliest one, to wake up each female podwoman and keep her as a personal sex slave for all my depraved fantasies. Now keep in mind that if there are roughly 2,500 females, I should go through no more than 27 women a year if I don't want to run out of clam. Roughly around half a month I get with each of them, which coincidentally is roughly the time it takes for me to become bored of a woman and want to remove her from my life, and simultaneously the time for her to figure out that I am an empty shell of a man and was just wearing a mask when I first met her. If there's 5,000 people on board (let's say), so, enough food for 5,000 people for I think 4 months, then that is enough food for 20,000 people for one month, or enough food for 1 person for 20,000 months, or 1,666 years. Looks like it's enough? Thing is, I don't know that the food is meant to last that long, I'm not sure if the ingredients are regular food or like space versions of the food. So the food might all go off after a few months anyway. So it's clear that I will have to get used to the idea of cannibalism. I don't think they probably packed a lot of tinned foods because the weight of those might make the ship too heavy and it could just fall down in space halfway through the journey which would be a big problem because nobody would be awake to open a door and throw tins out into space until the ship was light enough again to stop it sinking.
>>
>>79105300
So I think the food they have is restricted to the meals coming out of the machines and then they are expected to find and grow their own food on the new planet. Let's just assume that I might have a year's worth of good eating and I will eventually have to switch to cannibalism. Of course I could get some crops going, because they should have all the seeds and soil and stuff ready, but there's a lot of work in that. In the film they just let a load of old gay ass trees grow all over the place but that's a very different prospect to actually setting lines of crops and keeping them healthy. I'm not sure if it's warm enough in space to grow crops, and the heating in the ship might go on the blink from time to time so I'm not sure growing crops is viable. The alcohol might run out but I'm sure there is some book included telling you how to make alcohol in a sock on the space radiators. I had considered tampering with all the pods of the male passengers so as to kill them and remove the possibility that a man stronger than me might awake and stop my fun. But I need them in the pods as a source of meat. Working off the figures for sex slaves, I should be able to eat one man every fortnight. Should be more than enough. I might leave the most twinkish looking men in their pods never to be eaten to cover the possibility that I may turn gay in the future out of boredom.
>>
>>79105354
The possibility that a couple of men could awake and attack me will remain, but if I keep all evidence of my crimes out of that room, I will still be able to greet them as they wake and just kill them before they know what is going on. I think right from the start I would eat the men and, after I am done with them, women rather than just waiting for the regular food to run out, as it's important I get a taste for it as early as possible. Perhaps I could keep some women as baby producing machines to produce kids to grow and eat later. Anyway, I'll have a good few years of waking the women, immediately taking them hostage, subjecting them to distressing sexual and emotional torture, then murdering them, cutting the meat from their body, maybe tying the meat to spacesuit cords and leaving it hang out the door in space to keep the meat frozen. As I get older, the women I choose get hotter and hotter, so there should be no problems getting it up, but if there is, I'm sure they stacked Viagra on the ship to safeguard the chances of a new colony developing. Would the ship run out of electricity, because of the fact that I am up and about using things all that time? Perhaps, but at that point I suppose I would be old enough to not care. Assuming I live for the full 90 years, the ship should arrive at its destination, by which time the crew awake to an empty ship containing the world's most sexually satisfied 120-odd year old man, a man who was waiting for their arrival, armed to the teeth in order to take the captain hostage and force him to crash the ship into the planet, claiming all of our lives

I loved it. The ending in the cam was cut short and I was raging. But, this flick was sweet.
>>
OK the movie has plot holes.

But I dont understand why ppl that loved Interstellar or Gravity hate on this movie because of plot holes? Those two were 1000 times worse in that regards.
>>
The movie's first 20 minutes were quite good. You can see how lonely Chris becomes and how close he was about to go insane (killing himself). I'm not putting any spoilers on because this movie is already out for quite a while and has a low rating and it deserves a low rating.

Like other reviewers have said, this movie had a wonderful setting, but it didn't have the courage to make something original and spectacular. Its just another cliche sci-fi survival film, like Sunshine if you think about it by the 3rd act.

>>79096929
I haven't checked actual film yet, but I heard that the script which has been abounded for while, was good. So give it chance.
