Why is The Thing Red Line significantly worse than all of Malick's other movies?
>Imagine being OP where all you do is shit post on /tv/ creating threads sole intensive purpose of getting a (You) because that's as close you get to human interaction
Well here it is OP, a (You), run a long now.

Honestly?
1. The Voice over is obnoxious and just asks the same question over and over again.
2. Way too many famous actors showing up for cameos that it gets distracting.
3. Really bad performances from some great actors in the film. Nolte in particular is way too over the top but even Penn seems to be asleep for large portions of the film. The exact opposite of the hyper-naturalistic performances in his first two films.
4. The movie is unfocused because so much was taken out in editing that it feels like we're watching a series of unrelated scenes that have nothing to do with one another.
The score and cinematography are 10/10 though.
It's better than Knight of Cups.

>somewhere there's a 10 hour cut that flows perfectly and makes every performance convincing and Adrian Brody is the lead

And most importantly, its not Saving Private Ryan.
yeah when i got this with my brother we thought ti was gonna be a big swashbuckling war movie we were very young but we liked it a lot.'
we called it more of a art film then a war movie because we were dumb youngsters
IMHO Mallick doesn't work that great with traditional narrative, nor does he care to as being evident by his later movies. The storyline in TRL felt forced and unnecessary to me and I also didn't feel like he had all that much to say about the war.
As a side note
