The main issue with religion is the impact it has on legislature, hurting the country. It can be useful as well in instilling good virtues and creating law abiding citizens, but a lot of laws harm society that could be avoided without religion. I feel that it's more important to emphasize church vs. state than to say that religion is bad in general.
