I also had a similar type of experience in regards to "falling off" the series multiple times, but I also found the second hand embarrassment to be too much.

Season 1 is mediocre but season 2 is where it starts getting pretty great though its still unsure of what exactly it wants to be. Season 3 is where it hits its stride.

watched making dennis a flanders last. one of the stronger of the new season and had some good moments but it suffers the same problem all the other episodes do.

The well's dry, they re still funy and can write and improv a good scene most the time, but that first inspired idea that it grows out of isnt there. They rely on some hackneyed reference or pastiche to make them work. The gimmick for this ep was passable, even funny in itself, but some moments still felt soulless
