I dont know about The Pacific. It lacked heart, it lacked a core.

I know they went for a different tone than BoB, but I was mostly completely indiferent to what was happening on screen. I've seen enough depictions of the brutality of war, it just doesnt do anything for me and there are plenty of angles not yet explored in war movies.

He was the hero we needed, but not the one we deserved.

Winters and all of Easy were the soldiers they were because Sobel gave them something to hate and something to unify against. They pushed themselves beyond their limits not for love of country, but for hate of Sobel and not wanting to give him the satisfaction of seeing them fall short.

Whether he meant to do so or not, he was directly responsible for forging Easy into the company they were.
