Pretty good.
Chinese series tend to be overly long most of the time and so is this one but it has interesting characters who aren't always as one Dimensional as your average chink Drama.
Caocao also carries the show like crazy.
To the end it gets somewhat dull but thats because of the million timeskips and the original characters dying of old age.

Zhuge Liang is also a faggot and a dirty Mary Sue selfinsert shitter.

The morality/political discussions are what make it for me. So many Chinese shows I've seen just seem like melodramas. This has some of that of course but it's secondary to all the historical romance stuff. Chinese society is conservative as fuck as I understand it despite all their huge leftist movements the past few decades so maybe that's why they make such great historykino.

Yeah that's the biggest problem of any "Three Kingdoms" based media. After the early marquee battles most of the flagship characters are dead for all the late shit and it's boring.

I'd say a decent cut off is after Fan Castle/Yi Ling in quick succession. There's still a bunch of shit that happens, but most of the legendary generals/commanders/etc are dead at that point and you are just left with the build to Wu Zhang and eventual Jin dominance.

Wish it had better battle scenes though. The choreography is generally shit, and reused scenes are everywhere. Lu Bu and Diaochan storyline goes on for way too long as well. It's not interesting at all.

I got into the mid 60's or something in terms of episodes before it began to drag out too much for my taste, and I really enjoy slow burning shows- after all, this particular series took about 10-12 episodes to really start moving and I enjoyed the build up. The stale-mate portion of the series, episodes 50ish-70ish really turned me off and I'd most likely just have to rewatch the whole series again instead of trying to pick it back up.

That said, for the amount of money and time they had to make this, and the fact it was made in Communist China at all, is a fucking miracle.

They're arguably more capitalist than the US is in some ways, so they do make plenty of shows and movies (the government even funds some of these efforts IIRC), it's just that certain topics are taboo and on top of that your show might get banned from being distributed even after it airs in full because the government didn't like it for some inane reason.
