What do you classify as an 'old' movie?
For me it would be anything older than about 30 years

1960s or earlier, probably.
The 1970s pretty much birthed the modern movie industry.

This, first third of the 20th century had just a little amount of instances of what could be qualified as modern cinema, it was mostly like a larger scale teathre play you could watch repeatedly.
Second third of the century seemed more focused on experimentation and smaller scale film that focused better how stories were told, it was also the time were B-Movies became a thing, and it was during this time that many of the great directors of the 70's and 80's became interested in film.
By the last third of the century these directors gave shape to what we currently know as modern cinema.

Wait did I say 70s I meant 60s
I can think of a good number of great movies from the 60s but not so much the 50s
