There is a reason. It's for people to realize that no children will ever inherit the gay man's goodness in case it is a positive character,
while no children will inherit their evil either in case they are an antagonist.
The lesson is that gays are a waste of character.

Unfortunately, that is exactly what a lot of gay people do in real life. Their sexuality is what makes them tick. It shouldn't be that way, but it happens. There's a lot more to gay people than what they do in the sack.
