I've just nailed down a teaching job in South Korea starting early next year and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on what to do/see while I'm there.

Alright man, I'm all ears (eyes?)
Let's hear your recommendations!

my friend once told me korea blows
EPIK or hagwon?

Neither, an independent recruiter. I figure one year would be enough to get my Asia fix.
Korea is gonna be awesome
>teaching job
Engrish teacher
japan is objectively better

Recruiters get jobs for hagwons dude. You have two options. public or private.
Put in some more effort into your posts though.
>hey going to x country what should I do?
These posts are garbage. You need to
Provide some more information on yourself and your interests, at least put in some more effort than the average newcomer fuckboy coming to /trv/
I taught there for over 2 years and had a wonderful experience. I'm teaching math back in America now.

This isn't your thread, the Japan thread is located elsewhere.
Be warned that Japan shitposters will spew filth in every single thread involving Korea, they've done this for years it's a meme at this point

rural or urban? how close to seoul? blah blah, what kind of stuff do you like to do?
Your school will usually give you a designated babysitter, that person will give you suggestions about shit you can do on weekends. I don't recommend telling them all the sordid details of your social life though, even though they will ask.
Does anyone happen to know when the cut-off is each year for the South Korea working holiday visa please? I know that only 1000 people from the UK are allowed a visa each year, but when does that count actually reset? I can't seem to find that information online anywhere.
OP, if I went to Korea, I would compile a list of things to eat.
From basics like hot stone bibimbap and mandu to penis fish at that big seafood market in Busan with some gochujang, galbi, red bean soup, cold buckwheat noodle soup, Korean fried chicken, rice cakes, fish cakes, kimchi stew, kimchi fried rice... Those pancakes and toasts and matcha latte and kimbap and ... Idk I always create a food schedule when I go to Korea, then again, I just like red pepper and cabbage in general. Also in East Asia in general I love the rice, so just eating a good pot of white rice anywhere in East Asia is a treat to me. I have loads of trust in Korean grannies running their small restaurants just serving a few types of dishes, so keep your eyes open for those. Never had a bad meal in those hole in a wall places.

January, but it seems like a sort of Korean thing, so they might just wing it... Like if you're white enough, you needn't worry.
The January is in one of the random pdf's linked on the work in Korea sites, took me ages to find, lazy to look it up again.

Thanks for the info man.
I'd also recommend cheese tteokbokki and delimanjoo by the way, those are a couple of my personal favourites.
