Cheers for the replies guys! Well, I'm all about the rave scene man. I do some small time DJ'ing down my way, house parties, small festivals and that. So i'd love some big, baggy rave. No worries if its not your thing though. Don't get me wrong, thats not all i want to do. I just wanna meet some new people, have some new experiences and have some relationships, however long they may last.

Full Moon might sound like a tourist trap, and it is in most cases, but it sounds like exactly what you'd be into anyway.

On the lead up to Full moon there are a bunch of other smaller parties which specialise in certain types of music or genres. Unfortunately almost all of those trance parties or festivals are geared towards tourists.

I'm going to Full Moon for the first time in March next year, cant wait tbqh. After reading about it I can believe I've waited till I was 23 to do this, I thought about going after I finished school but it sounded too hectic for me at the time.

I may have been a bit misleading with the tourist trap phrase. I figure all the parties and that will be geared towards the people who travel there, i dont mind that. I guess i was getting at is the bigger, more commercial events that basically boil down to cochella teir EDM on a beach. That would be pretty peak times.

Back on topic now, some other really cool places to go in Asia you should check out:

Sihanoukville/Koh Rong (Cambodia).
Siem Reap (Cambodia), has all the cool temples in the day and a load of nightlife once it gets dark.
Don Det (Laos)
Vang Vieng (Laos)
Goa (India)
Chang Mai (Thailand)
Koh Phi Phi (Thailand)
Krabi/Ao Nang/Tonsai bay (Thailand)
Ho Chi Minh city (Vietnam)

They all have good night life and also stuff to do during the day. I went to Vang Vieng early this year and had the time of my life. Have done a little bit of partying in Europe but i'm sure others know more than me.

This sounds like where you would want to go, lots of trance/edm/rave music and parties all around the place. Goa is also more hippy than Thailand and the parties tend to be less commercial.

Mate the place you want to travel to is Mogadishu in Somalia, it's probably the last real hippy real rave no commercialisation nation left on the earth. Get in there fast before all the other tourists turn up and change the vibe.

Don't let the media fool you. Most of Mogadishu is fine, in fact I met some of the warmest, most hospitable folks on the planet during my 3 month trek through Somalia on my motorbike.

If you end up going to Goa, you need to do it at the right time of the year.

If you go any time between like mid April and July everything will be closed and it will be very hot + rainy. Lots of Indian package tourists at this time but not many backpackers or parties.
