Actually, it did happen to me one time around the middle-east. I had my laptop with me, which didn't contain anything illegal (I don't keep porn on my laptop). Before I was ready to board my plane there was another working unit active which was checking for explosives on electronics I think. One of the workers also asked me to open my laptop and also turn it on. I did so accordingly and it opened up on my desktop. Nothing special. Then he just said to me that I could put all my electronics back in my backpack.
