Hey /trv/,
First anniversary is coming up, the wife and I have always had a desire to visit South America, and my Chilean neighbors have been telling me to check out their homeland.
Any advice for visiting Santiago? We are 2 burgers who speak english, french, italian between us, and really shitty NYC/mexican spanglish
Specifics:
- Is English or shitty spanish passable in the major cities?
- Does anything interesting happen in Santiago on New Years Eve?
- Should we be looking at Santiago? or is there a better destination within a bus trip from the airport?
- Should we just forget about it and go to Buenos Aires instead?
We're looking at the time around New Years, 29th Dec to 4th Jan or so.
Thank you in advance for any opinions.
You should go to Viña del Mar, it's 2 hours by car from Santiago and has so.e of the best fireworks in Chile on new year.
Hey
1) I was a portuguese speaker only and did quite weel in Santiago and Viña del Mar, so shitty spanish may go well.
3) I fyou are going in summer definitely would go to Vinã del Mar, Santiago is a big city wiht not much things to see.
4) I went to Buenos Aires too, and i found it better, there was more things to do, cheaper, and you can go to Montevideo for a day trip,
Santiago is nice, cool city, but is far from amazing. After 3 days you probably will be bored
