I'm staying awhile in the south of Italy, in a smaller city not too far from Napoli. I'm dying to go dancing but it seems like Italians barely dance, and if they do it's for sex. Perhaps it's a cultural thing? Should I just give up?

I suppose you can find dance lovers in no-commercial clubs.
A lot of people (I'd say 90% of the male) go to "dance" just to be drunk and pick up some cuties.
You should try to find some good clubs with good music (electronic, house.. I dunno).
