I'm Dutch. Brussels is a bit grimy and not that beautiful compared to Antwerp, Bruges or Ghent. Its a stark divide between EU bureaucrats and poor muslim immigrants.

Still, there is plenty to do. Just depends how much time you have.

I went to Brussels and it was a bit of a drag but then I did a walking tour and saw more of the city and it's pretty sweet. I would recommend going to Brugge a lot more though... It has beautiful girls, beer, chocolate and even waffles... I will be going back for sure!!

Checking out the worthwhile sights in Brussels takes about 20 minutes. But beware, if you set one foot beyond the designated tourist area you will instantly be transported to an Arab shithole. You might as well head straight to the train station and catch the first train to Amsterdam (also an Arab shithole, but at least it's more interesting).

Kinda depends on what kind of traveler you are. Brussels is alright if you go for a single day. But only if you are the type that easily finds your own shit. Going there for the touristy things isnt worth it. Antwerp and Brugge are much nicer, as the city centres are more charming.
Best thing is to just wander around, take an alley or backstreet find some nice cafe there, have a beer. repeat.

Amsterdam can be a shithole or boring if you're a dumbass. There are enough interesting things to see and do, but unless you approach it more like a local you can get stuck in the tourist parade (its very busy).

As a Belgian I would greatly advise against visiting Brussels. It has nothing of interest to offer that you can't find somewhere else. The thing is, we Belgians aren't the best at anything noteworthy except for beer. So don't expect to see anything of great worth.
Brugge and Ghent are by far more interesting if you would like to get to know the Belgian culture, if there is even such a thing.

not a big fan of Brux, but I have friends in its suburbs and its gotten less shittier with time, or I've grown used to it. I'm not a "fun 4chan racist," so that's not my issue. I'm also used to large cities (Boston, NYC, DC, San Diego) or dumps (Tucson)
