I'm a plane nerd so I hired a car & drove out to Dulles to see the Udvar-Hazy Aerospace Museum, it was fucking insane, so much cool shit inside including the actual Enola Gay, an SR71, and a fucking space shuttle.

It took about 45min to get there but totally worth it. On the way back I stopped in Alexandria to see the George Washington National Masonic National Memorial. Quite interesting & the tower offers great views across DC and southern VA, it can also be access by the DC transit system.

Consider going around the monuments and memorials at night. Cooler, less crowded, and they are pretty spectacular when lit up.
