crime only is really bad in fucked up neighbourhoods. pretty safe in mid tier places. legal weed is a meme. i mean, you can smoke freely everywhere, but they dont sell it in drugstores like candies like the socialist fucks who govern want the rest of the world to believe. they've been delaying that for some years, and probably will keep delaying it since it was something conceived by our previous president, not this one who is a doctor who wants to control what people eats drinks smokes etc etc. you'll need someone to hook you up in order to get quality stuff. there's also schwag around (paraguayo, prensado), but nowadays looooots of people grow their own stuff. i dont have an answer for "how do they treat americans"......i mean, i'd treat you ok, probably leftie scum will inherently kinda hate you because they've been fed the "THE AMERICAN IMPERIALISTS ARE GUILTY OF EVERY BAD THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED" narrative for too long. that shouldnt discourage you if you want to come here tho. but i really don't know why would you come here of all places. personally i think its boring as fuck, but you should come anyway to see for yourself.

How's the food? Is there a comfy urban area I could live/eat/drink/walk around with only entry level Spanish?

I conceive Uruguay as a nice place for relaxing, with great beaches. Very friendly place, and I loved the food too (even the processed food, I found it different and tasty). It's a place mainly to chill; don't expect to party hard or something too extreme.

Subway 2.2 usd, but most street food are around 3 to 6 usd depending on how much you want to it. I normally set my budget at 6 usd for a cheap meal

You can, but you are not allowed to. Tho it is pretty easy to go to canelones and park in the middle of the beach, no one is going to complain if you do it at night.

In my opinion, I would stay in a first world country, Uruguay has no hope, depressing as Fuck country, getting full of venezolanos and dominicanos(filthy niggers).

Also, I'm moving to Buenos Aires because of my job.

Been there, country with no history of culture since it used to be a piece of land that argentina and brazil fought to see who owned it but then agreed to let it turn into a buffer state. Overpriced as fuck, cars are easily 4x the price than in other countries. Food was a mishmash of the other two countries. Women were fugly bitches but incredibly uppity thinking they were the shit, never seen as many pussy-whipped niggas in my life. Everybody I met there was either a ultra-left loser who blamed "da first world" for everything and the rest were simple looking for a green card to get the fuck outta there.
