Where in the world are you thinking, OP? Also, why not Thailand?

could be anywhere.
I already know Thailand. It's very easy. There are tons of cheap monthly apartments.

India? I know nothing about what you're interested in, but it's cheap as shit there

I got a decent deal in Prague just outside the main city center, and Tainan has cheap as shit hotels (and presumably rentals) if you want to go to Taiwan.

Thailand is very cheap. You can find apartments for 50 bucks for a month. No contract, no long term renting. I know a place in Chiang Mai for 100 usd and place has a pool.

OK, then: Cambodia

Try Vietnam or maybe the Philippines. Cheap places, slightly less touristy than Thailand. Also Myanmar.
On the Scottish West Coast/Western Islands in winter.
Con: you're in Scotland during the winter.

what's the best way to do visa for a little over a month in thailand? visahq says 30 days is the limit if you don't preapply, is it still easy to do a border run to renew it?
>best countries
Depends what sort of things you're into. You can get cheap places anywhere by going out into the middle of nowhere, but it won't be fun.
For fun places... Colombia, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand.
