Anyone have experience traveling alone with an anxiety disorder?

I have anxiety too but nothing that would make me miss a flight or anything. I find that when my anxiety will cause me to seriously fuck up a travel plan, I'm able to power through it and talk to whoever I need to talk to in order to get where I'm going.

How specifically are you imagining that your anxiety would do something like that? Like you wouldn't be able to get to the airport, or?

I find that especially if you don't know the local language, it's pretty easy to start getting taken advantage of and a lot of my anxiety comes in then.

I have anxiety issues and altbough its overwhelming at first travel actually helped me a bit. Putting yourself out there and seeing its not so bad is the best thing you can do. If you are worried about missing a flight give yourself like an extra 4 hours and then no matter how stupid you are you will always have time to ask a thousand people and get back on track.

I suppose its a little of the anxiety itself causing me to belive I might miss my flight. But I worry Id get lost while trying to get to the airport in Thailand. But I suppose I could just reserve that day for making sure I get there on time.

I had that when I was younger but later learned to handle it, Power through as the other Anon said.

The best antidote for me is to plan everything beforehand to the tiniest detail, and have a plan B. Airport floor plans and Google street view, for example, are extremely helpful tools for me. It is totally possible to travel from home to another side of the world with a timetable accurate to 15 minutes. I'm in the pipe, even if doubt or panic strikes.

Other humans are of course always the weakest link in plans. Have to allocate more time for the most human interaction depended happenings, or work my way around them somehow.
