I am taking a short trip to Cartagena, Colombia. I need help

People will literally come up to you and ask whether you're interested in blow or whores.

I had a guy come out of the shadows with a smartphone, start showing me pictures of girls, and then pulling bags of coke practically out of his ass.

I'm not a sex tourist or druggie, so I said no to both. However, that sort of thing happens all the time in touristic parts of Latin America.

besides the point, cartagena is a literal paradise. the old city is gorgeous, there are multiple beaches and islands with more beaches which are all different, it's really fucking hot but if you're by the ocean and you got that breeze then it's like a dream city.

if i were to reside in colombia i would either live there or in medellin, which is literally the nicest city i've ever been to in my life, nicer than u.s. cities in my opinion.

What the hell are you talking about? I lived in Medellin for a few months last summer, really liked it too... but you can't compare it to US cities and especially not European, hell even east asian cities are almost all nicer.

Medellin has amazing weather every day, some of the most beautiful women in the world, nice and laid back people. and El Poblado/Laureles is nicer than most of Latin America, but you can't compare it to 1st world countries.

It's not always worth the bullshit you have to go through to get laid normally. If you just want to fuck a hot girl but you aren't feeling up for doing a whole night of dating/drinking then hookers are a great option. In Cartagena especially the quality of the regular girls you can get is much, much lower than what you'd get in most other colombian cities. You're not "exotic" being a white guy there.

Hey, a buddy and I are planning on heading down to Colombia next month. He only has a week because of work. I can stay longer as a solo traveler.

Right now I think we are heading to Medellin as that is where his flight goes. I am hearing good things about Cartagena.

My question for those that might have advice if you only had a week would you just stay in Medellin or try and split the time?

How difficult is the travel between the two? How expensive and how long?

Lastly, I am going through Bogota, should I plan a day or two there, or just get out asap?

Cartagena is so hot and muggy that it's uncomfortable, and there are lots of touts around trying to screw with you. So if you go there, you only need 2 nights, 3 nights at the absolute max.

I lived in medellin for a couple months. There's not a huge amount to do there from a tourist perspective but it's a really cool place with lots of good nightlife.

Domestic flights are super cheap in Colombia, should be less than 100USD to Cartagena from the domestic airport within the city.

Once you're on your own I'd recommend heading up the coast from Cartagena to Santa Marta, specifically Minca. Then maybe do the Ciudad Perdida trek, Parque tayrona, etc.
