Hey /trv/ I don't post on here often but I had a question for you all.
I am a young guy in my early 20s who is sick of living in a small town in buttfuck alberta Canada and wants to move away for a while.
So I guess my question to you all is where's a good place a guy like me should go? I'm looking to move away for minimum 3-6 months I'm not looking for a huge party scene mostly places I can go backpacking/hiking/camping things like that but I am also looking to make friends as I am planning to move there alone.
I was thinking somewhere like Greece where there are lots of volunteer programs that could get me set up with housing and are things I'm generally interested in.
I'm not looking for a vacation, I'm looking for somewhere beautiful I can live for the next year of my life to get me prepared for when I am going to have to go through a messy move when I have to go to Germany as a transfer student in a few years.
Anyways any help or input is much appreciated

Find out which countries will give Maplevanians a WHV and start looking for seasonal /out/ or hospitality work.
I'm pretty sure you guys can go work in New Zealand pretty easy and NZ is top tier /out/ material.
yeah you can get a working holiday visa in NZ, Aus, and the UK, that is if you want to work.
By 'volunteer programs' you mean things like helpX and wwoof? Good idea, you'll have a great time.
You don't provide many details about what you're looking for. Every country in Europe has good hiking and possibility to make friends.
If I were to do this I'd go to Morocco where I could learn three languages at once and chill with backpackers while being that cool expat guy.

I am looking to work yes so thats very helpful. Basically im looking to pick up a new life for my year off school before I start again and get used to living out of my comfort zone somewhere I dont hate living where I can go adventuring and meeting new people that actually have the same interests as me.
