Almost died on the floor of a Cambodian hotel 8 month ago because I was a dumbass who did.

My favorite is to rent or buy a motorcycle and go wander around exploring a country. It's definitely dangerous and you'll want to take the Basic Rider Course beforehand (or whatever your country's equivalent is), but there's nothing like it.

The classic is to explore Vietnam by bike, but you can do it in Thailand, Myanmar, Laos too.

I find the concentration required, the physical exertion, combined with the exploration involved, really clears my head. And you'll end up in situations that backpackers going by bus from tourist spot to tourist spot will never see.
