Traveling to Tuscany in the late spring, and I'm wondering what the highlights of others' trips were in that part of Italy. I'm going to skip Florence and Siena as I've been there on prior trips. I've never really explored the Tuscan countryside, and I'm finding it difficult to pin down a specific itinerary of where to eat and what to experience.
I'd love to do a picnic in some ruins off the beaten path. Any other suggestions are welcome.
Pic unrelated.

Thanks for the input. I definitely want to say I've seen it, even if it's not my cup of tea.
Any recommendations for where to eat, sites off the beaten path or even tourist stuff, are all welcome. I'd rather have too much info than not enough.
