What's the better city for a four day vacation in February: Charleston, South Carolina, or New Orleans? I'm going to do a trip with a buddy and both seem worth doing. Charleston has been topping some travel lists online, but New Orleans is obviously legendary as well.

Charleston for the beach, new orleans for literally everything else. You decide

I know the food and music in New Orleans will be amazing. Will there be stuff to do besides the stereotypical party stuff though? Like I know Charleston is supposed to have some phenomenal traditional southern architecture and plantation tours and stuff.

You can do that in New Orleans, too. Maybe find a swamp tour and some plantations to visit.
Probably hit up hipster college spots, too. I live in Louisiana and I always appreciated all the small music stores. You'll find a lot to do in just 4 days, longer than that maybe not.
Is New Orleans a relatively safe city, or could it be described as "sketchy"?

Tourist areas around downtown are pretty safe. The lower ninth ward not so much.
