I recently turned 18.
For my birthday, my godparents have offered to pay my travelling expenses for a 30-day trip all around europe. The way the ticket works is that I can travel on 15 days out of the 30 - so for example I might travel every other day, or stay somewhere for 2 days and then travel for 2 days, etc etc.
The map attached is slightly out of date, but its a pretty good rough guide of where the InterRail service runs.
1) Where are some places I should definitely try and visit/things I should do?
2) Any tips for my first time travelling completely solo?
Did inter railing a few years back. Pic related ish.
Fantastic experience.
If you want to see Scandinavia at all, start there.
It's also probably the most expensive region you could go with an inter rail ticket, so do it first and go south / east into cheaper areas to help with potential budgeting issues later on.
I'm from the UK, i'd say don't try travel around here on an inter rail pass. Great things to see, especially in rural areas, but beyond the typical London sites it's hidden a little outside of the reach of rail stations, or not supported by the ticket.
Germany / Austria were great.
Don't feel the need to plan everything. Book the first week, then work it out on the move. The ticket is incredibly flexible.

Holy fuck I second the fuck outta this, but go from Prague to Salzburg to Munich to Bern
Salzburg is too good of a city to pass on, eating on top of the fortress while overlooking the city is one of my favorite things to do
Pic related the fortress is pretty cool

This is a good choice. That town is like walking into a story book.

As you'll be financially supported I would make a splurge trip London-Paris-Zurich-Genève-Côte d'Azur. Then in a next time I'd go to less expensive places.

How is Dublin to Holyhead supposed to work? There's no tunnel or bridge.
