hike/go camping in your backyard local things
go to the park/sail/guided tour of your city
look for deals at goodwill to sell on ebay
write a novel/helpful website article
volunteer with some people who make a difference in some way, that'll get your mind off your problems
plan your next trip(s) by reading up on historical and fiction/films set in the city
