If people want to come here - they will. No need forcing them, desu. Plus it is noteworthy that E. Europe is lacking compared to W. Europe, mostly because we didn't colonize shit.

It's more niche and that's for the better.

>E. Europe is lacking compared to W. Europe
in what?
>>
b-but some parts of eastern europe (read: prague, budapest soon) are overran by tourists already, let's keep the area a secret.

jk i also don't get why poor people don't just go to budget europe, it's the fun side anyway.

What are some good places to visit in Poland if I'm into museums, classic architecture, and maybe a few concerts? I really enjoy walking around during the day, so pedestrian friendly towns would be ideal, especially places with parks and historical centres. I'm fairly sure my route will take me through Krakow, but other places nearby are of interest too.

Also, anyone know any good Krakow hostels for solo travellers?

Sorry I always put S.E. Europe and E. Europe in the same basket and I realize that's wrong. The scale of development and relevance to the world as a whole is a bit more tricky and detailed. For example you can spend an entire week in a W. European capital and still haven't experienced it, whereas the entirety of the Balkans can be done in a week.

Love the place, just don't think it's for everybody.

>>1195030
That's part of the charm desu. Although commie blocks can and for the most part are mass produced, there are enough variations and interesting decorations to keep you entertained if you're into that.
>>
>>1195060
I'd take a commie block over this any day of the week to be honest

>museums
Museums are generally shit in Poland. There wasn't that much to begin with and almost everything of note was looted and lost in the war.
>classic architecture
Kraków, Gdańsk, Toruń, Wrocław, Poznań, Lublin, Zamość. Roughly in that order. If you like castles, there's the Teutonic one in Malbork, a bunch in and around Lower Silesa (most notably Książ, Moszna, Czocha) and on the route between Częstochowa and Kraków (so called Szlak Orlich Gniazd)
>concerts
Big concerts happen in the big cities with venues like stadiums or exhibition halls, so you're mostly looking at Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, Tricity (Gdańsk and friends), Poznań, Łódź, Katowice. For garage band gigs, you want cities with popular universities that attract young people and consequently nightlife, so again Kraków, Wrocław, Warsaw, Poznań. Big music festivals are a summer thing and the biggest are Open'er, OFF, Orange Warsaw Festival and Przystanek Woodstock, the latter notable for being completely free and consequently the most crowded.

Pretty much every single city is pedestrian friendly. You'd have a harder time looking for car friendly cities as the traffic can get unbearable.

Slightly OT... Can you recommend a cheap hotel close to the Open'er site?
I found some family-run room for rent thing, but they're obviously hard to reach for someone who doesn't speak Polish.

>Slightly OT... Can you recommend a cheap hotel close to the Open'er site?
I'm not op, but I'm as well from Poland. It will be virtually impossible to find hotel close to the Open'er site, since the festival is taking a place at some closed exmilitary airport out of the city. Most of the people are getting there by special buses which are starting their rides near "Gdynia Główna" rail station and going to the mentioned airport (and back) every few minutes (you don't have to pay anything extra for a ride - once you'll buy your ticket you may travel back and forth as many times as you wish during the festival days). So the most reasonable thing to do is to find some cheap hotel in Gdynia. That's fairly international city and you'll find something easily either by aribntb or just googling. Gdynia is very well communicated with Sopot (the most popular touristic summer destination in Poland I guess) and Gdańsk (the city that the op already mentioned for its remarkable architecture). I hope you'll enjoy your stay here :^).
>>
>>1195146
I don't know the music you listen to, but I highly recommend OFF festival. Comparing to Opener it's a little more hipsterish and cheaper festival. In last years I've heard there My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Swans, Neutral Milk Hotel, GY!BE and so on... So if you're /mu/-tant, then you'll enjoy it more than the Opener.
>>
>>1195163
Yeah..... no, most of Gdynia center (around Główna and further down south) is booked already for the dates of Opener... I think I'll just give that 'pension' type of thing in Kosakowo a call first week of January, and prepare my best dzyn dobre and dziekuje and all my Polish vocab to book a room there. Very reassuring re the bus. In case I have to end up keeping the expensive booking I made in the center, at least we can get to the festival easily.
Sopot I'll def keep in mind! I mean my friend and I just randomly bought tickets for Opener without much thought, so we might end up spending more time just strolling around in Gdansk and Sopot and Malbork than actually being at the festival.
Thanks so much for the tips.

>>1195165
Yes, the line-up at OFF is definitely more interesting to me. Well, probably to my friend, too. It's a long and boring story, we're going to Opener at the end... (And Krakow, Torun, etc.)

What about prostitution? Eastern Europe or Thailand?
>>
>>1193371
Going to Serbia, what's a must?
>>
>>1195234
well in thailand its legal and frankly part of the tourism package. you have girls in clubs and on the streets selling

cant think of any e.europe country that has legal prostitution unless you count hungary. which means at best youre gonna get street walkers or shady brothels

The rafts in Belgrade for sure. Visiting a more gourmet one at first for some serbian grill and then the club ones for serbian grills.
>>
>>1195314
That depends on what you expect by saing "legal". In most countries in EE prostitution isn't outlawed, only pimping. You can buy and sell all you want as long as there's no middleman taking a cut.
Brothels are shady and rare, but cheap escorts taking clients in their private apartments are a dime a dozen.
>>
>>1195222
You should not worry too much about having an accommodation not in Gdynia. If you want, you can try always rest of the tricity. Even if you'll book a hostel in Gdańsk or Sopot it will take you respectively about 30 and 15 minutes to get straight to the Gdynia Główna rail station, since there is a kind of overground metro across Gdańsk-Sopot-Gdynia (it's called SKM - Szybka Kolej Miejska). The tickets are about 1EUR.

There are "commie blocks" in Scandinavia, too, they're just better looked after and comfier inside than in Eastern Europe. They're the most efficient way to house people in cold climates; free central heating through hot water piped through the buildings make it cosy as fucc, plus you're closer to schools and shops and parks and shit. Ameriburgers who laugh at "commie blocks" have never been in a proper one.
>>
>>1195234
Germany/Austria for FKK clubs which are mostly full of women from the poorer EU member states anyway (Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, etc).

Defending a tiny welfare apartment full of poor people?
>>
>>1195376
why the tiny and poor part?
commie blocks were made to house the average joe, the middle class mostly
>>
>>1195376
Even commie blocks are more comfier and cleaner than Anglo-saxon houses
>>
>>1195376
Read the post, Amerifriend; "commie block" apartment buildings are common in Scandinavia as well as the ex-socialist bloc countries. You'll find commie blocks in Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki, etc. These are some of the wealthiest societies on Earth. They look drab and boring on the outside, but on the inside they are very comfy. Triple-glazed windows, thick walls. They're not "welfare apartments", it's just that the council provides heating to all the apartments because it's most efficient that way. You can walk around in your underwear inside when it's -25C outside.

>>1195548
This. UK housing, at least, is often very poor quality and drafty.
>>
>>1195314
Prostitution is actually illegal in Thailand. But it's everywhere and the police turn a blind eye to it except when they need to extort some bribe money.
>>
>>1195548
It's true.
;_;
>>
>>1195314
Well in Slovenia prostitution is decriminalized, but not legal, you could probably get a Croatian whore here.

Since it's criminalized in Croatia all their whores come over the border.

https://www.sloescort.com/senews.php

The majority of these are Croatian or Serbian, and completely unfuckable.
