You can leave your car in a safe parking lot on the US side of the border for $30. It's about a 5-10min walk to customs. If you're caucasian you'll be through in 10 minutes.

Look for TAXI LIBRE on the Mexican side of the border, ask for a ride to the zona, pay him 5$ US, and get yourself some beef tacoz son.

If Vegas is your starting point I'd take the I-17 from the Grand Canyon to Phoenix instead of that bastard of a route by the way. It's faster, more interesting, and you get to see Flagstaff and even Sedona with if you're okay with a manageable detour.

I went to school in san diego. To get to TJ you drive up to the border,find a place to park, then walk across the border. There will be dozens of taxi cabs as soon as you cross into mexico. Tell the driver "adelitas, por favor" and he will take you for about $5. TJ is shit though, just go for the whores and tacos and come back.

Did something similar to you OP last Christmas, but went to SF over Tijyana to meet family. Id reccomend getting to Phoenix first and staying at Sedona. From Sedona/flagstaff head to the GC then back to flagstaff/Sedona and then too LV to LA.
