How come there are barely any TEFL gigs in Latin America? Even at low/volunteer level of pay there are almost none.
Because they can afford to pay actual teachers instead of having to hire some entitled westener who think because they speak English as a native language they are qualified to get paid a living wage for teaching it.

The teachers they do hire are fucking garbage though.

there are but most Spanish speaking nations are poor as shit
Brazil has a pretty shitty TEFL system but the market is huge and since there is a huge population and the economy is a top 10 one it can still sustane it.
Brazil gives no visas so it's retarded you can thank lame bumbs who basically lower the standards for this
Mexico has a big market and economy but it's mostly filled by mexican americans so... pay is also shit you will need roomates
Costa Rica and Colombia both have a market pay is also shit
Generally in Latin America you need to have your feet on the ground before people consider you, and the rent is higher than you might think while the pay is shitty in all of Latin america this is largely becuase they don't "require" degrees so scubs fill the position for a penitence also lots of locals who used to be illegals in the states so they speak english well enough to fill these spots and don't need to be payed well
