Like in every country if you are in a city, try to keep away from the railwaystations at night, like an annon above me suggested if you go to innsbruck, there are a lot of morrocan drug dealers, also stay away from the park at night, same problem there.
Apart from there if you want to see something (don't know how much time you have) every "Bundesland" is save to visit.
Vorarlberg is a mix of mountain and valey, the Bodensee region is very nice to visit (as you can go to either germany and or switzerland at the same time pretty easy).
Tirol is one of the number one spots for mountain climbing and hiking (well hiking in austria in general is beatiful everywhere), for innsbruck you have a lot of students, and kitzbühel etc. are the high society spots.
Salzburg also is a beatiful outdoor place, Salzburg city with enough cultural things to visit (well again, like pretty much in every major city in austria because of many artists, scientists and so on).
Kärnten and Steiermark are nice to travel also with the little wider landscape, if you can get pumpkinseed-oil from Steiermark.
Oberösterreich and Niederösterreich would be finer to visit in summer or autumn because of the big fruit fields and landscape...also wine.
Burgenland you have also a big wine culture.
Well and for Wien (Vienna) well what to say. Its a city in my opinion not an austrian city anymore but rather an european/international city, lots of "foreignes" (not in the bad way of problematic migration), students, shops, theatre and so on.
