What, in your humble opinion, is the friendliest city?

What is the least?
>>
The friendliest cities I personally have been to are Detroit and Philadelphia. Least is anywhere in Florida.
>>
>>1149089
Victoria bc.

>Hating on the best state in the union
Clearly you've never been to Miami or Key West.

I'm from Orlando originally, and I'll concede that people can be kind of stand-offish in the 407, but it's honestly from dealing with tourists year round. Tourists are cunts.

Tampa and Daytona beach are nice too.
>>
>>1149089
>Best
Miami, SanFran, Seattle, Bangkok, Manila, Bucharest

>Least
Buffalo, Chicago, Detroit, Singapore
>>
>>1149834
> miami
> neon shit everywhere
> most superficial asshats on the planet

Yea no thanks
>>
Friendliest: Taipei or Houston. Or, if you factor in the white guy bonus, anywhere off the tourist track in the central highlands of Vietnam (Dak To, Pleiku, Buon Ma Thuot). Any of those spots wins hands-down but only if you're white since your novelty.

Least: Shanghai. Fuck that city.

None of the cities in the US come anywhere near the unfriendliness of large Chinese cities where they're already used to foreigners.
>>
Tirana and Sarajevo are super friendly.
>>
>>1149836
>neon shit everywhere
I think you mean "bright lights, bright city."

>most superficial asshats on the planet
I'm sorry you're ugly. Fitness, style, and beaches sums up Miami.

Seriously, you're leaving out

>Best beaches in the continental U.S.
And the women. Mmmm.
>>
>>1149858
Not Op but your off your rocker if you enjoy Miami.

Dated city, Dated lights
I'm fit as fuck, its mostly fit old blokes down there
Beaches are complete trash tier, but I guess if we're going with U.S only.

You forgot to mention no one speaks english.

Some of the women I will give you, but I was there on spring break.

Best - Bangkok, Osaka, Vegas.
>>
Anywhere in Taiwan
Osaka
Indonesia
>>
>>1149089
Friendliest: Stockholm, Lund, Copenhagen, Vienna, Montreal, Tehran, Cairo.

Least: Paris, Milano, Tel-Aviv, Ankara.

Not sure where to place Madrid, Madridians are okay, but the Catalans there are total cunts.
>>
Small villages in Andalucia have lots of nice people, the tourists they're used to are not ordinary partying youth like you'd have in Barcelona. Most tourists there are Spanish aswell. Zahara de los Atunes and Vejer de la Frontera are very nice. Except for Barbate, fuck that place.

Worst I've had must be London.
>>
>>1149089
Havana was great, but I'm full gringo so that might effect but everybody on the streets were great and love to have conversations about your home country.
>>
>>1149818
Fuck you friend

>>1149834
Gainesville is a very easy town to make friends in too.

Boulder may be too hip for life, but I can make a friend with any person walking down the street.

Wisconsin is friendly like a 1950s TV show.

Going to Canada, looking forward to that.

No place sticks out in my mind as unfriendly, but Chicago is pretty stand offish. I didn't really make any friends in my two visits there, although I did get in a several hour debate with a socialist that was passing out Marxist propaganda in front of the university. Cool guy, gave him my email, never heard from him again.
>>
>>1150997
I don't get why Catalans are so unfriendly. I went to Barcelona and Sevilla a few years ago, and the people in sevilla were much more friendly.
>>
>>1149089
I don't know about the US too much, but I found myself drunk stupid at 3.30am in Warsaw January -10oC, my friend caught onto some girl and went to her house and I needed to get back to the hotel, found a taxi driver and gave him the hotels card, and woke up to find I didn't get ripped off, he charged me the equivalent of £12 which is less than a taxi home from a night out for me.

most people were really helpful while there too.

Least friendliest place, Scunthorpe... jesus fucking christ
>>
>>1149089
Any Thai town smaller than Chiang Mai is quite friendly (and even Chiang Mai friendly enough outside of the small, jaded touristy bits).

In the US, I've found Minneapolis, MN and Madison, WI friendly in a down-to-earth Midwestern way; Portland OR is friendly enough if a little smug-white-folks.
Finally, my home city (San Francisco) can be very friendly in some ways--I've never been anywhere else where people go so far to help tourists figure out the transit system, or are so quick to offer unsolicited directions. But we also have plenty of smug, surly, and deranged people.
>>
>>1151359
>woke up to find I didn't get ripped off, he charged me the equivalent of £12
Lol, you were ripped off royally actually. The taxi price by meter in Warsaw is $0.5/km, so 12 pounds is the cost for 30-40 km, and I doubt you were further than 10 km from the city center.
>>
>>1151367
Huh, Ahh well, when you look at a taxi in England and a 15 minute drive through a tunnel is £30 at 12.30am, you don't mind ha.
>>
>>1149089
good film
>>
>>1149818
Detroit, isn't that the place where you're guaranteed to be shot downtown? And after that you'll get robbed. Then shot again.
>>
>>1149827
This. Absolutely great place to be! Everything about it was friendly and nice. Loved it. I also felt a lot of small Scottish villages were incredibly friendly.

Thats all midwestern cities. "Come for the 'za, stay for the casket"
>>
Friendliest: Istanbul, Tehran
Least: Anywhere with Navajo, Glasgow
>>
>>1151428
Yes, but if you're downtown, people are friendly and glad to have you visiting.

Don't leave downtown.
>>
Everywhere in morocco except marrakesh
beautiful fucking people, most go out of their way to do shit for you without ever asking for money and half the time they save you money.

One guy led us right to our riad in the middle of the medina for like 25 mins and just asked if id like to buy some hash after. Spent the equivalent of 5 euro and got like 4 grams of some great stuff.
>>
>>1150997
>Least: Paris
not my experience at all
i guess it helps to speak french fluently.
>>
>>1149089
Few places have already been mentioned but:
Best:Taipei, Montreal, Istanbul

Worst: Beijing, Vienna, Sousse (that's a crappy town in Tunisia)
>>
>>1149925
Are those the friendliest? Be specific man.
>>
cities are not friendly or unfriendly

>oh the people were so nice/friendly/helpful
said every traveler ever, about every place ever.

People are not generally assholes for no reason, and you overestimate their kindness because you're on a travel high; ie your excited because you're traveling.

It depends on the person, not the location.
>>
Friendliest: Tijuana
Least: Montevideo Uruguay
>>
>>1150997
Israeli here, how was your experience with tel aviv do you mind telling me?
>>
Interesting to see so many mention Taiwan.

Yes, they are very friendly, but for some reason I found Kaohsiung to be full of assholes, small anecdote: a 7 Eleven wouldn't let me use the Wifi because it was for apparently for Taiwanese only. Never had to deal with bullshit like that anywhere else.
>>
>>1152589

Not him but I am white British mid-20s and found most people in Israel to be friendly, especially the younger secular crowd in bars in Tel-Aviv and Jerusalem.

Taxi drivers tried to rip me off but I was even warned by locals that they would.

The only time a local acted like a cunt was when I was getting a bus from Jerusalem to Tel-Aviv on Rosh Hashanah and the last space went to me - then she started acting up about tourists and shit.

Asking directions and stuff was easy. Some nice woman walking her dog even went out her way to help me find an AirBNB place by calling the owner and speaking Hebrew and walking me there - took like nearly an hour out of her day.
>>
>>1152589

Also a note - the Russian speaking population of Tel Aviv was some of the friendliest.

I know they have a bad reputation from some, but the owner of my last apartment sorted me out a driver and everything back to Ben Gurion for really cheap prices.

It helps to speak some Russian ;)
>>
>>1152606
Well russians aren't known for being the friendliest people here, but i guess it's just the slavic facial expression of being serious-looking and not giving fake smiles to everyone
>>
Liverpool, UK

Literally prove me wrong
>>
>>1152870
Easily the friendliest place you'll ever visit. YNWA is a way of life to those people.
