Hello /trv/, this is my first time posting here. I came to ask what I should be prepared for on my trip coming up. Basically what the trip consists of is flying to Oslo, and staying a week there, and traveling around the country side of Norway. Then, we're going to travel to Amsterdam for a couple days, then visit Scotland for a few more days. Any pointers or suggestions would be much appreciated. I forgot to mention that money is not really an issue for us.

Never been to Oslo but you're gonna hear this soon enough so... A week is too much time to spend there

You could spend a day or two in Oslo, take in the sights (the opera, vigelandsparken, holmenkollen, Karl Johansgate, maybe some museums, I don't know...)
Then take the train across the country to Bergen. It crosses Europe's largest high mountain plateau, and makes for some pretty sweet views.
(Along the way you could disembark and go hiking in hardangervidda.)
Then you could spend a day in Bergen, and travel further south from there, to Stavanger. A lot of Norway's most famous sights are along the way. prekestolen, kjerag, lysefjorden, etc. I think there are buses and ferries you can take.
From Stavanger you can then take the plane to Amsterdam.
Nobody on this board knows anything about Norway, so it's probably not the best place to look for advice.
Yeah I`m from Norway and a week is way to much time to spend in Oslo, 2 days is more than enough

A week is too long to stay in Oslo if you don't have anyone to meet up with. If you're into Nature i'd recommend the cross country train to Bergen, and from there either go north toards Trondheim, then lofoten and Finnmark, og go south, to Stavanger and the area there og Kristiansand. Naturewise the are around Oslo is the least interesting in Norway, just forests and farmland. you have to go the middle, north, west or south for it to be interesting.
I'm from Stavanger and could probably give you some tips if you plan to go here.
pic is from a weekendhike i took last summer and hour out of Stavanger.
