New York fag here. I just got a passport. What's Canada like? It's like a 2hour drive away. Is it worth visiting?

Canda's alright, but it's really small so you shouldn't plan to spend more than a couple of hours

I was thinking the Canada side of Niagara falls or drive to Toronto for a Yankees game except Yankees aren't there until August

Niagarafag here.

The Falls themselves are obviously worth checking out but the area surrounding is just an underwhelming tourist trap with the prerequisite Ripley's Believe it or Not and wax museums. Overpriced food and mediocre American chain restaurants. Fallsview casino is nice but most of the tourist stuff is low quality.

The local's drag (Queen street) has a nice brewhouse called Taps that usually has great live music in the summer, and a generic sports bar called Grand Central with hot waitresses, but a lot of low rent shops and roving white trash underclass.

I would sooner explore the surrounding wine region, particularly Niagara-on-the-lake. You should do some wine tours, try the icewine, check out Niagara-on-the-lake, book a bed and breakfast, maybe rent a bike and do some exploring. It's very beautiful and scenic, a great way to relax and de-stress. You won't regret it.

cool thanks for the info. From Niagara falls, how easy and how long is the drive to Toronto? Is it worth seeing? Toronto /sp/ guys say Toronto is worth visiting and it's pretty close to me. Also the USD is worth way more up there so any trip I get a discount.
Also is credit card fine everywhere, or will I need to convert some currency?

You don't notice a thing other than doing math conversions in your head, the buying power is the same, if not worse in Canada. US has far more reasonable gasoline, clothing and food prices, as well as public transport.
You might notice hotels quite low in places offseason, so for instance in the Maritimes in the Fall. The non-city places in Canada are both hurting for lack of local jobs (less mining, forestry and fishing prospects, so move to the big city is what the next generation did).

This exchange rate really only affects Canadians, specifically snowbirds who used to enjoy a nice second home or lifestyle for seasonal travel inside the US. They are hurt more at home and abroad both. Probably only saw half of my Canadian neighbors made it down this past season to their waterfront homes in my town, some who used to come and go, only came for a week or two. The are hit hard at restaurants, paying 130% of what we pay. It's not that it's cheap at home to live, it is just that the US isn't the bargain anymore to them.

I don't think you're going to notice a thing.

It's always good to have some cash on your person in case of emergency--but use your credit card for most purchases, as you will get a better rate of exchange from your own bank.

Example: US $ is worth about $1.30 CDN right now, but most businesses will only give you ~$1.20 exchange on cash.

Plus our plastic bills will amuse you.

Niagra has some wine tours and shit in the area, check those out before you walk around the bullshit wax museums, those always disappoint, falls are....meh, they're waterfalls you can't do hang out and party in them. You look, maybe go on the boat, maybe go behind them...whoopie.

Toronto is cool and all, but If I was you I'd be checking out The Andy Warhol Museum in shittsburgh before the AGO in Toronto you know? It's going to be 2nd class to anything you can drive to on the east coast except for pretty white women. It's cool though, lots of international cuisine, a china town, fashion district, and so forth. I personally don't see a point in checking out anywhere outside of downtown Toronto. Although centre island is cool, and the waterfront south of Toronto. Ripley's aquarium is shit. I would say Toronto is worth the drive, you can park downtown for $20 and walk around all day doing w/e. Blue Jays are shit, don't fall for that meme.

There are some nice little towns by the lake, if you go south west of Niagra Falls, all the ports with beaches.
