I wouldn't go further north than Goleta. Lompoc is both cold and windy . San Diego is expensive if you're thinking there think National City, kind of a shit hole but otherwise OK. Then Oceanside, which is kind of a shithole also but OK. The OC and LA are kind of tough, but both are filled with ! Mexicans so you might have lunch there. Ventura County has Oxnard, which is a shithole and filled with Mexicans, but possibly cheaper than places further south. The city of Ventura has the boulevard which is a shithole and filled with Mexicans, but is otherwise OK. Goleta is filled with Mexicans and college students, and is probably expensive.

I live in Ventura County, in a place that isn't a shithole. Everything here is expensive, and I doubt you can even get a trailer in a shit hole for less than $1500. And good luck being an uneducated pothead trying to rent a room. Even just a room is going to be $800.

In conclusion, good luck, because you're going to need it.

When I posted National City, I actually meant Imperial Beach. It's not as bad as Nasty City, but it too is a shithole.

Fuck it, I know it sounds shallow but at this point I'd like to live on the west coast, a few hours drive from the ocean, closer to where palm trees grow than not, I am college educated and intend to move into higher paying creative work and wont go out there till I have a car and some savings to work with. but i would be looking for somewhere I can build a comfy cheap base for a while. I know people will be like "oh fkn hippie headed out west to escape their problems" but I'm 24 and have spent 23 and a half years in the region where I was born and want to start anew
