Do you have more than 5 years of experience? (Alternatively at least a bachelor's), and currently make over $70k? Just find a job and you have a good chance of a EU blue card, in Sweden at least. Which is the Nordic country you want to live in if you work in tech.

OP If you're making that much, you're probably pretty qualified. Get your ass hired in Sweden and live well over there. They care more about education but if your resume is padded, I would let that speak for itself.

For someone making six figures in tech you sure are pretty fucking stupid. At your income level that education is not free. You are paying heavily for it.

And yes, I'm with the others. Why-- as someone making six figures-- is living in Scandinavia more appealing to you than the US? People in that income bracket are absolutely taxed out the vagoo in the Nords.

Is it just a principal thing, because even though you're wealthy you believe in the Nordic model for others? If that's the case I do commend you for your principals, but the US is absolutely the best country to be in for anyone who makes six figures.

Sweden had right wing government for two time periods (eight years) and our free healthcare has been privatized. Bills has to be paid and waiting time is horrible. A broken leg wont kill your economy but it's rarely worth going to a doctor if you aren't in an emergency.

Everything is free. If you can't afford it, you get roughly a third paid for you and the rest in loans (for housing and food). Born poor but with a brain that puts most people, like me, with a loan to pay back after school at 18-35k usd.

I wouldn't go here to live as an unemployed. Cash might seem well but remember that the nordic countries all are in the top of living costs. Only Singapore beats Oslo, but there's no luxury apartments here to bring up the average cost.

Kind of true. You better double check it. Last time this discussion came up with colleagues half seemed reasonable. 6 months for the mother and 6 months for the father. Less if either parent wants to take more.

Don't expect to make that cash here. Tech is well paid but without a masters and a great background you won't end up getting paid for nothing. I would guess 100k is closer to what a senior or low level lead tech would make here. You won't get that in benefit checks.

Anyway. Go for it. The already mentioned right wing political party fucked up our school system by banning non-EU university students to study here so we don't get any competent tech people here anymore. Jobs are plenty. I work in game development myself but decided to go abroad just since I can push the salary higher.

As far as the generous welfare goes, we're facing a choice right now; shitskins or welfare. The coalition currently in charge thinks having both is an (attractive?) alternative.
