I'm in the U.S., currently taking a gap year. I've always, for many years, wanted to visit the arctic north, like Svalbard, or Greenland, whether with some kind of expedition/tour group or alone.
I'm fascinated by remote places and arctic landscapes, and I want to ride around a snowmobile in one of these places.
What's are my best options for doing this? I've never traveled intentionally before, so that doesn't help. But assume money isn't really a critical issue here.

Alaska doesn't cut it. I want the real arctic north.

Then go north and inland.
Barrow, Alpine, Prudhoe Bay, or even further towards Canada.

Couldn't I just actually visit Svalbard?
